DLA orders protective equipment for US nursing homes

The Defense Logistics Agency ordered about $134 million in personal protective equipment for U.S. nursing homes amid COVID-19. The White House Coronavirus Task Force requested the items, funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, to equip medical staffs at approximately 14,900 Medicaid- and Medicare-certified locations with 14 days of protective gear. Nursing homes will receive the gear in two shipments, each with seven days’ worth of PPE.

New Normal?

COVID-19! Stay at Home orders! Virtual Learning! These are difficult times as we navigate isolation and try to keep up with our work. Whether we are Senior Executive Service, Military or Defense Logistics Agency General Schedule-level employees, we face uncertainty and uncharted territory. Many of us have already teleworked and become familiar with the hurdles of our home network or secure sites: lagging, locking, or just molasses-slow load times. It is frustrating and annoying. Knowing all this, we must accept it and adapt to overcome. This is especially true with video conferencing!

Bellwood Manor House set for $3.28M renovation

The historic Bellwood Manor House at Defense Supply Center Richmond is getting a face-lift. Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a $3.28 million contract to Facility Support Services for renovation of the house, which was built between 1790 and 1804 and is listed as a national and state landmark.

Federal workers have another opportunity to donate to the Combined Federal Campaign beginning today – this time in support of charities working overtime in the coronavirus pandemic fight. The U.S. Office of Personnel Management approved a special COVID-19 solicitation period running through June 30.

Over the last three weeks, Defense Logistics Agency Aviation Public Affairs has run a series of stories spotlighting the DLA Pathways to Career Excellence (PaCE) Program and the experiences of those who are just beginning the program, those halfway through and those who have successfully graduated. Today, we conclude the series profiling two recent graduates who came up through the program together: Jennifer Williams, contracting specialist, Aviation Engines and Airframes Division and Andrew Collins, acquisitions specialist, Joint Commodities Division, both within the Supplier Operations Commodities Directorate, Defense Logistics Agency Aviation.
