RIMPAC Ships Set to Receive Fresh Supplies

Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Official U.S. Navy website — USNS Pecos and the USNS Washington Chambers will provide logistics services to ships participating in the biennial Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2024 maritime exercise throughout the month of July in Hawaii. These Navy vessels will provide logistical support with aviation fuel, diesel ship fuel and fresh food.

New commander takes charge of DLA Aviation, Defense Supply Center Richmond

In a whirlwind of events on the morning of July 2, the Defense Logistics Agency Aviation team celebrated a promotion, a change of command and a retirement on Defense Supply Center Richmond. DLA Director Army Lt. Gen. Mark T. Simerly presided over a ceremony that saw Air Force Brig. Gen. Chad R. Ellsworth assume command from Air Force Brig. Gen. Sean K. Tyler, who retired shortly after handing over the reins. Earlier that morning, Air Force Lt. Gen. Linda S. Hurry, Air Force Materiel Command deputy commander, promoted Ellsworth during a small ceremony in the DLA Aviation headquarters building.

DSCC named top installation by Secretary of Defense

Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III named Defense Supply Center Columbus as one of six installations to receive the 2024 Commander in Chief’s Annual Award for Installation Excellence. The winning installations were announced in a Defense.gov news release July 1.

New leader takes charge of DLA activity at Warner Robins

The team from Defense Logistics Agency Aviation at Warner Robins welcomed their new leader during a change of command ceremony June 28 at the Museum of Aviation here on base. Air Force Brig. Gen. Sean Tyler, DLA Aviation commander, officiated the transfer of authority to Air Force Col. Craig Giles from Air Force Col. Brian Mayer, who celebrated his retirement during an immediately following ceremony.

For the first time after almost five years, the Defense Logistics Agency hosted Family Day at the McNamara Headquarters building June 25. Due to widespread global concerns, 2019 was the last time the agency hosted a large gathering event of this kind.

Top acquisition leaders across the Defense Logistics Agency gathered June 25-26 on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, for a Chief of Contracting Office Activities summit. The two-day summit provided additional training and the latest updates to contracting requirements. It was targeted toward the senior-level directors, deputy directors and chiefs of various contracting offices across the agency’s major subordinate commands and strategy and business services.
