Contracting officer representatives keep services, facilities humming

FORT BELVOIR, Va. — No two days are alike for contracting officer representatives who oversee service contracts that make daily operations throughout DLA possible.

U.S. Marines and Sailors with Combat Logistics Battalion 13, Combat Logistics Regiment 17, 1st Marine Logistics Group, provide humanitarian disaster relief preparation by offloading approximately one thousand bags of rice and three thousand cases of water to Federal States of Micronesia outer island of Chuuk during exercise Koa Moana 24 in the Chuuk Lagoon, July 5-9, 2024. During Koa Moana’s deployment throughout the Indo-Pacific region, U.S. Marines and Sailors from I Marine Expeditionary Force work to strengthen alliances and partnerships with development of interoperable capabilities, combined operations, theater security cooperation, and capacity-building efforts. Exercises like Koa Moana administer 1st MLG to tackle complex challenges by fostering collaboration among bold thinkers and employing creative methods to optimize prepositioning, enhance sustainment and distribution networks, and bolster readiness in distributed environments such as Palau, the Federal States of Micronesia, and Papua New Guinea. DLA Distribution commander gets detailed look at Anniston operations

ANNISTON, Ala. — Rear Adm. Michael York, commander, Defense Logistics Agency Distribution, learned more about operations and support to the Army and warfighter during a visit to DLA Distribution Anniston, Alabama, located at Anniston Army Depot, July 10-11. York, who presided over a change of command ceremony July 10 where Army Lt. Col. Toby Williford relinquished command to Army Lt. Col. Brandon Ebel, made his first visit to the site since assuming command of DLA Distribution in May.

DLA Acquisition leaders recognize acquisition achievements

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — Top Defense Logistics Agency Acquisition leadership met with chiefs of contracting offices, or CCOs, and recognized several DLA employees during a visit to DLA Distribution headquarters in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, July 16-17. Matthew Beebe, director of acquisition, DLA, joined George Atwood, deputy director of acquisition, DLA, to discuss acquisition workforce and compliance assessments, small business updates, strategic contracts, and industry engagements and recognize 15 acquisition employees from across the DLA enterprise.
