Chaplain talks life after combat during PTSD workshop

PHILADELPHIA — A Pennsylvania Army National Guard chaplain spoke to Troop Support employees to help them better understand PTSD during a workshop Aug. 25. “I think everyone who has been to combat comes back different,” said Lt. Col. Douglas Etter.

Training helps ensure troops receive quality clothing items

PHILADELPHIA — Approximately 20 quality assurance representatives from the Defense Contract Management Agency visited DLA Philadelphia Aug. 5 as part of a required two-week training, C&T Technical Support Branch supervisor Elizabeth Roland said.

Troop Support NCOs keep kids active at Philly Play Summer Challenge

PHILADELPHIA — Local children climbed walls and crawled under trucks with help from noncommissioned officers at Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support and other military personnel during an active play event Aug. 10 in Northeast Philadelphia.

Todd Hoover, the Army’s Wellness Center Operations program manager, explains how metabolic testing equipment measures the amount of oxygen an individual uses to sustain normal functions at an Aberdeen Proving Ground center in Maryland. Hoover was invited to speak to DLA Troop Support employees as part of the organization’s efforts to develop workforce resiliency.

PHILADELPHIA — The leading cause of death in the U.S. is heart disease and the population's behavior is the cause. An Army Wellness manager spoke to DLA Troop Support employees about resilience and three areas that people can improve to be healthier.

PHILADELPHIA — The senior enlisted leader of the U.S. Transportation Command made his first visit to Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Aug. 10 to strengthen the relationship between the two organizations.

Troop Support pharmacist inducted into Order of Military Medical Merit

PHILADELPHIA — The chief pharmacist at DLATroop Support began his Army medical career as a Special Forces medic. Twenty-five years later, his distinguished service earned Maj. Randall Sweeney induction into the Order of Military Medical Merit.

Subsistence supports Peshmerga forces fighting ISIL

PHILADELPHIA — The Subsistence supply chain is providing food to the Peshmerga forces. The Secretary of Defense said in April that up to $415 million would be allotted to support the Peshmerga, one of the most effective fighting forces against ISIL.

PHILADELPHIA — A new inventory resolution process is striking a balance between operational effectiveness and audit readiness, impacting millions of dollars for DLA Troop Support Clothing and Textiles’ operations.

Soldiers with the 2nd Infantry Division rest on military cots during their deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in June 2010. DLA Troop Support's Construction and Equipment supply chain provides military cots for warfighters and for disaster relief operations, and sent 400 to Alaska for use during a training exercise this summer.

PHILADELPHIA — Unshouldering a heavy pack and stretching onto a military cot can be a small but welcome comfort for warfighters after traveling by air for hours. Hundreds of soldiers had that modest amenity available to them as they arrived for the Arctic Anvil exercise in Alaska this summer, thanks to Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support.

Food safety officer gets inside look at future military rations

Philadelphia — A Subsistence chief food safety officer got an inside look into soldiers evaluating food rations during field trials at Fort Carson, Colorado. The field trials are conducted annually by the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research Development and Engineering Center.
