Guam distribution center holds active shooter exercise
MARIANAS, Guam — A 2000-2013 Federal Bureau of Investigation study reported approximately 160 active shooter incidents in the United States, which have occurred in commerce areas, education environments, open spaces, residences, houses of worship, health care facilities, military, and other government properties. “Here on Guam, a beautiful tropical island in the Pacific, we are not immune to such an occurrence of an active shooter situation,” said Macy Ooka, the DLA Distribution Guam, Marianas’ director. “I felt duty-bound to address this very real threat.” As a result, on October 27, the distribution center conducted its first ever full-scale active shooter exercise.

Susquehanna military help a local veteran in need
NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — Assisting Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area, several military members stationed at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Susquehanna, Pa., along with others from Defense Distribution Center, Susquehanna, helped rehab a home in a unique way – by veterans for a veteran.

Former Air Force supply liaison reflects on life during the Vietnam War
OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma — Jack Sandmeier, who is currently a supply technician at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Oklahoma City, Okla., spent 24 years in the United States Air Force, several of which were during the Vietnam War. DLA Director updates Distribution workforce on strategic goals
NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — During the DLA Director’s inaugural visit to DLA Distribution in May, he was in the process of developing the Agency’s seven-year strategic plan. On Oct. 27, he returned to the field activity’s headquarters in New Cumberland, Pa., to update the workforce on the main tenants of the now complete plan.
