Holocaust survivor shares story of resilience with DLA employees

John Koenigsberg was just five years old when the Gestapo took away his grandfather and forced his family into hiding in occupied Holland. He would spend the next two years in the care of a Catholic family who took him in, while his father joined the Dutch resistance movement and his mother’s fate remained unknown to him.

Denim Day brings awareness to sexual assault

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Denim Day was an event which encouraged people to wear jeans (denim) to help raise awareness and promote prevention of rape and sexual assaults. Land and Maritime leadership approved Wed., April 27th as a command sponsored opportunity to show support for Denim Day.

DSCC women attend workshop on “How to Become an SES”

The EEO Federal Women’s Program hosted a workshop for GS-12’s and above on “How to Become a Senior Executive Service (SES).” It was conducted by Elizabeth B. Kolmstetter, PH.D, Chief Human Capital Officer (CHCO) at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and a total of 40 employees from the federal community participated in this workshop.

Urgency drives DLA Puget Sound team in maintaining ballistic-missile submarines

The design of the Ohio-class submarine allows the vessel to operate 15 or more years between major overhauls. On average, the submarines spend 77 days at sea followed by only 35 days in-port for maintenance, creating urgency for on-shore personnel who must ensure the vessel is ready when called back to action.

DSCC Shred Day accomplishes goal

Defense Supply Center Columbus held its annual Shred Day April 20 on the installation. Associates were encouraged to bring anything they wanted shredded, including personal and work documents. DSCC’s Environmental Division processed 7.56 Tons of paper, which translates to saving 129 trees and 38 cubic yards of landfill.

King’s ship sets sail after more than 30 years in the Navy

After more than 30 years serving as a naval officer, outgoing Land and Maritime Commander Navy Rear Admiral John King King officially retired and is transitioning to the next chapter in his life. “It’s just been unbelievable how fast my time here at Land and Maritime has flown by and I have to tell you I’ve been extremely fortunate to work with such an inspired group of professionals,” said King.

Info fair kicks off month of sexual assault awareness and prevention at DSCC

Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM) formally kicked off at the Defense Supply Center Columbus during an information fair held inside Building 20. The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime's FMWR Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) office planned the April 6 event to showcase weekly activities taking place throughout the month.
