Next DLA Land and Maritime commander announced

The Department of Defense announced June 2 that U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Kristen Fabry, director of logistics, fleet supply and ordnance for U.S. Pacific Fleet, will succeed Rear Adm. John Palmer as commander of the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime.

America’s Army: When We are Needed, We are There

Let us all join in a moment of reflection and celebration in honor of the U.S. Army’s 245th Birthday, which was celebrated on Sunday, June 14. The U.S. Army was officially created on June 14, 1775, over a year prior to the Declaration of Independence, when Congress approved the raising of six companies of riflemen to enlist in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia until the end of the Revolutionary War. The Army has grown in size and capability since its humble beginnings in the nation’s struggle for independence against Great Britain and is now the largest branch of the U.S. military.

Training the next generation of warfighter supporters goes virtual during pandemic

When Defense Logistics Agency Pathways to Career Excellence Class 39 kicked off March 16, 20-year Army veteran Daryl Johnson was among the 30 members embarking on the two-year journey. The DLA Pathways to Career Excellence Program trains entry-level employees for advancement in supply, technical quality, procurement and finance fields through on-the-job work assignments, cross-training, rotational assignments and formal instruction. Johnson and his classmates were still in-processing into DLA when the agency launched a maximum telework policy March 23 due to COVID-19.

DLA Aviation Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. David Sanford, who is currently on a special assignment as Deputy of the COVID-19 Supply Chain Task Force with the Federal Emergency Management Agency in Washington, D.C., officiated the ceremony virtually from his office there.
