  • Relationship to Implementation Conventions (ICs): This Data Dictionary is a reference tool that enhances and supports the DLMS Implementation Conventions (ICs); it does not replace them. For proper implementation, users must consult the detailed guidance and business rules contained within the applicable IC.
  • Governing Standards: All data elements are governed by the Accredited Standards Committee X12 (ASC X12) and the policies within DLM 4000.25, Defense Logistics Management Standards (DLMS). The ASC X12 is the governing source for X12, which is an electronic data interchange (EDI) standard.

Use a separate RFID loop for each RFID associated with the shipment using the HL02 parent ID to create a parent/child (nested) relationship. Skip this level when not applicable.
  856S HL03 V Address Information Use to identify the address loop which specifies the transaction originator. For Hazardous Material/Hazardous Waste shipment status information (BSN06 = AZ) also identifies the recipient. Use only one address loop per transaction.
  856S HL03 W Transaction Reference Number Use to identify the shipment status loop which identifies the transaction reference number (requisition document number) and associated shipment information. Use only one shipment status loop per transaction.
  856S HL03 CN Container Use to identify the container record loop which specifies the storage location code, container weight/volume and the Accumulation start date for the HHMM/HW shipment status record. Repeat this loop as Necessary and identify the parent loop as the HHMM/HW shipment status record loop.
  856S HL03 FI Financial Information Use to identify the Finance loop to provide DoD SLOA/Accounting Classification information. The Finance loop includes only the REF/150 and DTM/20 segments. This loop is applicable for shipment status to the ICP from the reporting activity for ICP-directed lateral redistribution order shipments of retail assets (equivalent to MILSTRIP legacy DIC AS6) or items shipped to DLA Disposition Services. Refer to ADC 1043.
  856S HL03 HE EPA Waste Number Subsection 1. Use to identify the EPA waste code record loop which specifies the applicable EPA waste codes associated with the shipment. Repeat this loop as Necessary and identify the parent loop as the shipment status loop. 2. A data maintenance action was approved in version 8010. The approved code/name is “HE - EPA Waste Number Subsection”.
  856S HL03 ST State 1. Use to identify the state waste code record loop which specifies the applicable state waste codes associated with the shipment. Repeat this loop as Necessary and identify the parent loop as the shipment status loop. 2. A data maintenance action was approved in version 4040. The approved code/name is “ST - State”.
  856S LIN02 5 Hazardous Waste Disposition Document Control Number Use to identify the hazardous waste disposition document control number when sending shipment status to the waste generator.
  856S LIN02 A2 Department of Defense Identification Code (DoDIC) Use to identify ammunition items.
  856S LIN02 A4 Subsistence Identification Number
  856S LIN02 FB Form Number Use to identify the form stock number.
  856S LIN02 FS National Stock Number
  856S LIN02 FT Federal Supply Classification Use to identify the FSC of the nonstandard materiel when a part number is not available and materiel can only be identified by description (e.g., non-NSN lumber products).
  856S LIN02 MG Manufacturer's Part Number 1. Use to identify nonstandard materiel. 2. May be used to identify the supplier-assigned part number when applicable to a DoD EMAL or GSA Advantage/Global internet order from a vendor catalog. Refer to ADC 1068. N - National Item Identification Number: 1. Use only for CAV Shipment Status when the NSN (FSC plus NIIN) is not available. 2. Qualifier N is a migration code approved for use in X12 version 5020. This is an authorized DLMS enhancement.
  856S LIN02 SW Stock Number 1. Use to identify the local stock number (LSN). 2. When used for a unit of use LSN (with 1/BSN01/020=Z), the applicable NSN will be included for cross-reference (at LIN04-05). May also be used for identification of LSNs assigned for part-numbered item requisitioning. 3. Authorized DLMS enhancement under DLA industrial activity support agreement. Refer to ADC 381.
  856S LIN02 YP Publication Number Use to identify the publication stock number.
  856S LIN02 ZR Service Control Identification Use to identify Materiel Control Tracking (MCT) tag number. The MCT tag number is an authorized DLMS enhancement under DLA industrial activity support agreement. Refer to ADC 381.
  856S LIN02 ZZ Mutually Defined 1. Use to identify nonstandard materiel when all other authorized codes do not apply or cannot be determined (includes management control numbers and locally assigned control numbers). May be used for legacy MILSTRIP-to-DLMS conversion when the translator cannot determine a more appropriate code. 2. DLMS enhancement.
  856S LIN04 CN Commodity Name 1. Use with LIN02 code FT to identify the materiel name or description. 2. Do not use for Hazardous Materiel/Hazardous Waste. Provide the Proper Shipping Name in 2/PID/070.
  856S LIN04 FS National Stock Number The NSN is provided as a cross-reference when unit of use indicator is included (1/BSN01/020=Z) and the Local Stock Number (LSN) is identified as the primary materiel identification. Authorized DLMS enhancement under DLA industrial activity support agreement.
  856S LIN04 ZB Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) Code 1. Use with LIN02 code MG to uniquely identify a manufacturer's (or supplier’s) part number. 2. May be used to identify the supplier CAGE when applicable to a DoD EMAL or GSA Advantage/Global internet order from a vendor catalog.

  856S REF01 2E Foreign Military Sales Case Number 1. For DoD SLOA/Accounting Classification use to identify “Security Cooperation Case Designator”. Refer to ADC 1043. 2. Authorized DLMS enhancement; see introductory DLMS note 2f.
  856S REF01 2I Tracking Number 1. Use to identify all shipments to a DLA Disposition Services that qualify for in-transit control procedures (e.g., the shipped materiel line item value is $80 or more or the item is recorded as pilferable/sensitive). Cite Y in REF02 if shipment meets specified criteria. 2. DLMS enhancement; see introductory DLMS 2a.
  856S REF01 43 Supporting Document Number Used to perpetuate/convey a Supporting Maintenance Document Number as Necessary. The content in this field may only be meaningful to the receiver of this transaction. May be used to convey maintenance control/document numbers.
  856S REF01 60 Account Suffix Code Use in conjunction with the DTID Number (REF04 Code W1) to identify the DTID Suffix Code, when applicable. DLMS enhancement, see ADC 466.
  856S REF01 79 Cost Account 1. For DoD SLOA/Accounting Classification use to identify “Cost Center Identifier”. Refer to ADC 1043. 2. Authorized DLMS enhancement; see introductory DLMS note 2f.
  856S REF01 86 Operation Number 1. Use to identify the Key Operation (KO) Number associated with the JO. 2. Authorized DLMS enhancement under DLA industrial activity support agreement. Refer to ADC 381.
  856S REF01 91 Cost Element 1. For DoD SLOA/Accounting Classification use to identify “Cost Element Code”. Refer to ADC 1043. 2. Authorized DLMS enhancement; see introductory DLMS note 2f.
  856S REF01 98 Container/Packaging Specification Number For DLA Disposition Service Field Office shipments issued from a Disposition Services Container, use in the HL03 code CN loop to enter the Container Number associated with the DTID. Separate shipment status transactions will be provided for each DTID identified to a specific Container. DLMS enhancement, see ADC 42.
  856S REF01 9R Job Order Number Authorized DLMS enhancement under DLA industrial activity support agreement. Refer to ADC 381.
