Media invited to attend DLA Aviation change of command ceremony

RIchmond, Va. — Air Force Brig. Gen. Allan Day will relinquish command of the Defense Logistics Agency Aviation to Air Force Brig. Gen. Linda Hurry in a formal change of command ceremony at 10 a.m., June 28 at the Defense Supply Center Richmond’s Frank B. Lotts Conference Center.

Stewart receives Defense Meritorious Service Medal for service to DLA

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — Prior to departing DLA Distribution following almost one year with the organization, Army Master Sgt. Cynthia Stewart received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal for her service from July 2016 to May 2017.

Scrap handler hits the road for Camp Kinser

Okinawa, Japan — The scrap operations personnel at the DLA Disposition Services site at Okinawa, Japan, have some new help thanks to a late night road trip from Naha.

Eggleston III, right, a safety engineer with the U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville's Safety Office, explains a solar array project at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, to summer hire, Lorraine Rosello Del Valle; Erika Cosper, a Pathways Intern; and Jacob Morrison, a summer hire during a recent trip to Fort Campbell. Work on the solar array began in 2012 when the Fort Campbell Directorate of Public Works partnered with the Huntsville Center and the Department of Energy to put together a renewable energy plan for the post.

Phase II increases Fort Campbell solar array wattage

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville website — A ribbon-cutting ceremony June 9 at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, celebrated the completion of the final phase of Fort Campbell’s 5 megawatt solar array.

July is the peak month for grill fires. Roughly half of the injuries involving grills are thermal burns. The National Fire Protection Association provides free downloadable grilling safety tips on their website at NFPA.org.

Fire Prevention Office provides summer fire safety tips

Richmond, Va. — With the upcoming holidays and being outdoors, the Fire Prevention Office would like to share a few fire safety tips to help you during the upcoming summer season.

Defense Supply Center Columbus personnel stack donations of canned foods during the annual Feds Feed Families campaign. Each year, donations from federal employees support the Mid-Ohio Food Bank's Operation Feed food drive, bringing essential items to central Ohio families in need.

Feds Feed Families returns to DSCC

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The 2017 Feds Feed Families campaign returns for its ninth year June 28. This year’s goal for DSCC is to exceed 30,500 pounds of food items for the Mid-Ohio Food Bank.

DLA’s Acquisition director visits Distribution

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — Service, along with several procurement analysts from headquarters, visited DLA Distribution on June 12. His main purpose for the site visit was to review DLA Distribution’s contract oversight program, meet with the acquisition workforce, and have a tour of DLA Distribution Susquehanna, Pennsylvania’s Eastern Distribution Center.

Donald Bartlett, criminal intelligence analyst, Security and Emergency Services Division, DLA Installation Support Richmond, DSCR, gathers information from classified and unclassified reporting networks and assesses threats to DSCR, Virginia.
