700th BSB Soldiers train to operate, defend logistics hub

Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the National Guard website — Oklahoma Army National Guard Soldiers assigned to the 700th Brigade Support Battalion, 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, took part in a field exercise at Glenwood Training Area July 13-14, 2024. The 700th BSB manages and supplies all maneuver battalions and their forward support companies assigned to the 45th IBCT’s with all of their commodities, including food, water, fuel, ammunition, parts, and maintenance to help them get to and accomplish each mission.

U.S., Australia, Philippines, U.K. begin Exercise Predator’s Run 24 in Northern Territory

Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on U.S. Indo-Pacific Command website — U.S. Marines and Sailors with Marine Rotational Force – Darwin 24.3 Marine Air-Ground Task Force arrived at Mount Bundey Training Area, Northern Territory, Australia on July 15, 2024, to commence Exercise Predator’s Run 24. Exercise Predator’s Run 24 is a littoral-focused, multilateral training exercise led by the Australian Army’s 1st Brigade. The exercise involves U.S. Allies and partners from the Australian Defence Force, the United Kingdom Commando Force, the Republic of the Philippines Army, the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Navy.

DOD’s Need for a Transportable Energy Solution: The Promise of Nuclear Power

Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the National Defense University Press website —In the 42 days following Hurricane Maria in September 2017, the Federal Government deployed 366 generators with a combined 122-megawatt electric (MWe) capacity to Puerto Rico. This supported one-third of critical infrastructure on the island but fell far short of the ~2,400 MWe normally needed just in San Juan. This disaster highlights a profound Department of Defense (DOD) capability gap in providing large-scale transportable electrical power generation to the Defense Support of Civil Authority (DSCA) mission. This disaster should stand as a stark warning to planners as DOD refocuses on peer competition, fields ever more energy-intensive technologies, invests in forward synthetic fuel production, transitions to an all-electric ground, and addresses climate change.

Sentinel Land-Based Nuclear Modernization Program Will Continue, With Changes

Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the DOD news website — The Defense Department decision to continue to modernize Sentinel comes after the Air Force notified Congress that the program had exceeded its baseline cost and triggered what is known as a Nunn-McCurdy breach. Sentinel was a proposed US Army anti-ballistic missile (ABM) system designed to provide a light layer of protection over the entire United States, able to defend against small Inter Continental Ballistic Missile strikes like those expected from adversaries (China, Russia, North Korea or other states).
