DLA delivers food for historic USS George Washington voyage

PHILADELPHIA — The Navy contacted DLA to order food delivery like ordering pepperoni pies from your favorite pizza place. But it certainly took longer than 30 minutes to deliver more than a million pounds of food to three countries along the route of the GW's historic voyage around South America.

A former Navy utility boat arrives in New London, Connecticut, via tractor-trailer Nov. 30. Two surplus boats will be used to ferry passengers between historical sites along the Thames River as part of the new "Thames River Heritage Park" effort there.

Groton, Connecticut — Two Connecticut cities will benefit from the help provided by the DLA Disposition Services staff in Groton who helped them fulfill their dreams of drawing visitors to their riverfront areas.

Troop Support Pacific bolsters fresh fruits, vegetables support to Navy

PHILADELPHIA — The USS Theodore Roosevelt received a special delivery Nov. 15 when it stopped at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. The aircraft carrier was resupplied with fresh fruits and vegetables through Troop Support Pacific, the first delivery through a new, long-term contract that enables better support to Navy ships.

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — Defense Logistics Agency Distribution employees and leadership gathered to wish a collective “Happy Birthday” to the Navy Oct. 13, in honor of the service’s 240th anniversary.

Cherry Point’s Corrales awarded DLA Distribution Company Grade Officer of the Quarter

CHERRY POINT, North Carolina — Navy Lt. Jill Corrales, retail manager at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Cherry Point, N.C., has received the Company Grade Officer of the Quarter award for third quarter, fiscal year 2015, for working closely with the Fleet Readiness Center-East, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing and other units onboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point to support the warfighter and ensure combat readiness.

DLA Distribution Norfolk team player with Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard in Pacer Goose 2015

NORFOLK, Virginia — In early July, the Ocean Giant set sail from Norfolk Naval Base with 2 million pounds of supplies on an 11-day voyage to the U.S. Armed Forces’ northernmost military installation in the world. Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Norfolk, Va., was part of the team tasked with the U.S. Space Command’s yearly surface resupply for 650 U.S. Air Force personnel at Thule Air Force Base, Greenland, in support of Operation Pacer Goose 2015.
