New commander takes charge of DLA Aviation, Defense Supply Center Richmond

In a whirlwind of events on the morning of July 2, the Defense Logistics Agency Aviation team celebrated a promotion, a change of command and a retirement on Defense Supply Center Richmond. DLA Director Army Lt. Gen. Mark T. Simerly presided over a ceremony that saw Air Force Brig. Gen. Chad R. Ellsworth assume command from Air Force Brig. Gen. Sean K. Tyler, who retired shortly after handing over the reins. Earlier that morning, Air Force Lt. Gen. Linda S. Hurry, Air Force Materiel Command deputy commander, promoted Ellsworth during a small ceremony in the DLA Aviation headquarters building.

Top DLA acquisition leaders meet in Richmond for CCO summit

Top acquisition leaders across the Defense Logistics Agency gathered June 25-26 on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, for a Chief of Contracting Office Activities summit. The two-day summit provided additional training and the latest updates to contracting requirements. It was targeted toward the senior-level directors, deputy directors and chiefs of various contracting offices across the agency’s major subordinate commands and strategy and business services.

Responsibility shifts at DLA Distribution Korea

Army Lt. Col. Nathan L. Hadlock relinquished command of Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Korea to Army Lt. Col. Celina S. Pargo during a ceremony held at Camp Carrol, Korea, on June 21. Army Col. Dennis K. Williams II, Military Deputy Commander, DLA Indo-Pacific Command, presided over the event.

DLA vice director visits Aviation to talk innovation, support

Defense Logistics Agency’s vice director, Brad Bunn, visited DLA Aviation leaders and personnel June 11 to discuss key initiatives at the major subordinate command’s headquarters on Defense Supply Center Richmond. The visit included briefings on strategic projects, a lunch with senior civilians and coin presentations to a handful of select employees.

Army logistician officer takes charge of DLA Troop Support Europe & Africa

The charge to deliver food, uniforms, medical items and more to ensure the combat readiness of America’s warfighters throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East changed hands June 7. Army Lt. Col. Eduardo Rivera assumed command of the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Europe & Africa from Army Lt. Col. Fermin Gonzales Jr. during a change of command ceremony in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

Fire department receives top honors for 2023

Defense Logistics Agency Installation Management at Richmond’s Fire Department received three awards for efforts during 2023, recognizing the department’s dedication to safety, efficiency and innovation. The accolades include DLA Fire Officer of the Year, DLA Fire Department of the Year and DLA Fire Prevention Program of the Year.

Aviation ISA leaders meet at Cherry Point, discuss best practices

The team from Defense Logistics Agency Aviation at Cherry Point, North Carolina, hosted a reoccurring Industrial Support Activity Round Robin event May 7 to share best practices and challenges facing the units. Leaders, from operations officers to officers-in-charge, from each ISA attended the daylong event featuring a tour of the Fleet Readiness Center East and DLA Distribution operations.
