InSPIRE participants give back to local children’s hospitals

PHILADELPHIA — Participants in a DLA Troop Support mentoring program assembled 96 activity bags for patients of two local children’s hospitals after a mentoring session in Philadelphia Nov. 1.

DLA Troop Support Subsistence supply chain director promoted to colonel

PHILADELPHIA — The Army’s newest colonel is Abel Young. The director of DLA Troop Support’s Subsistence supply chain was promoted in front of family and friends in Philadelphia Oct. 25.

USACE has received 7 FEMA Mission Assignments (7 active, 6 closed), totaling more than $10.5 million for disaster response to Hurricane Michael-damaged areas. One of those missions is to provide Temporary Emergency Power. The USACE Temporary Power PRT and the 249th Engineer Battalion are deployed and assessing sites for installation of emergency generators. DLA Troop Support provides 5,000 meals and 63 generators following Hurricane Michael

PHILADELPHIA — Before Hurricane Michael hit the Florida panhandle Oct. 10, the Federal Emergency Management Agency reached out to Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support for assistance.

Maximo Ayala, the lead instructor and chief, Lean Six Sigma training and project management support branch at DLA Troop Support, conducts Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training Oct. 18 in Philadelphia. Students gain analytical skills during the 40-hour course, which they must pass and then complete a continuous process improvement project to earn their Green Belt certification.

Employees can now donate to 2018 Combined Federal Campaign

PHILADELPHIA — Employees at the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support are able to make charitable contributions through the Office of Personnel Management’s Combined Federal Campaign now through Jan. 11, 2019. The CFC, a 57-year and running campaign, is the world’s largest workplace giving campaign, garnering more than $8.2 billion for charitable organizations.

Troop Support Academy gives DLA employees first-hand glimpse of warfighter support

PHILADELPHIA — Some DLA employees have never worn the uniform. Their only point of reference to the many items that they procure is a national stock number or cage code. The recent Troop Support Academy gave them a first-hand look at the numerous items they provide to the warfighter each day.

PHILADELPHIA — Two DLA Troop Support employees were recognized for their 68 years of combined service during a retirement ceremony Sept. 26 in Philadelphia. Anita Parker,Procurement Process Support, and Philip DiBabbo, Medical supply chain, both retired with 34 years of service.
