Friends, family and co-workers gathered Oct. 10 in the Frank B. Lotts Conference Center on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, to celebrate the graduation of approximately 100 students from the Defense Logistics Agency Pathways to Career Excellence Program.

DLA wins Fort Belvoir Commander’s Cup

After years of advancing in the rankings, this year the Defense Logistics Agency beat the competition to win the Fort Belvoir Commander’s Cup for the first time. DLA Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell Williams congratulated the team from across the agency in an Oct. 4 ceremony at the McNamara Headquarters Complex.

Benjamin “Gil” Perkins inducted as the 2018 Hall of Fame recipient

For his dedicated service and contributions to Defense Logistics Agency Aviation, Benjamin “Gil” Perkins, former DLA Aviation chief counsel was inducted into the 2018 DLA Aviation Hall of Fame Sept. 27. Perkins retired in 2015 after 34 years of service.

Troop Support retirees honored for 68 years of combined service

Two DLA Troop Support employees were recognized for their 68 years of combined service during a retirement ceremony Sept. 26 in Philadelphia. Anita Parker,Procurement Process Support, and Philip DiBabbo, Medical supply chain, both retired with 34 years of service.

Honoring Kate Stevens: driving force behind the modern day EDC

Lucy “Kate” Stevens, the first director of the Eastern Distribution Center and civilian executive assistant to commander of the then New Cumberland Army Depot, passed away Sept. 16, 2018 near her home town of Pell City, Alabama.

DLA celebrates the Air Force’s 71st birthday!

Airmen and Defense Logistics Agency Aviation employees celebrated the Air Force’s 71st birthday Sept. 18, with a ceremony at Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia. Air Force Commander Col. Terrence Kilgore, 345th Training Squadron, Fort Lee, Virginia, was the guest speaker. In his speech, he highlighted the Air Force’s 71st birthday theme: “American Airman … Wingman, Leader, Warrior.” He called the theme befitting for a service that encompasses all three character traits.

CON 090 “Boot Camp” boosts new acquisition pros’ knowledge, confidence

Employees entering the acquisition workforce at DLA Troop Support can now better prepare for the rigors of training required to become certified in their field through the “CON 090 Boot Camp.” With a focus on employee development, the boot camp helps new hires to overcome the pressures of the 30-day resident Defense Acquisition University “Federal Acquisition Regulation Fundamentals” course.

“One of the most experienced and knowledgeable personnel, not just within Distribution, but across DLA” is how DLA Distribution deputy commander Twila Gonzales, Senior Executive Service, described deputy chief counsel John Fritz at his August 21 retirement ceremony celebrating his 39 years of service to the federal government.
