TRANSCOM/DLA partnership results in transportation contract improvements

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — On February 12, DLA Distribution began utilizing one of the largest logistics contracts ever awarded by the U.S. government. The Defense Freight Transportation Services (DFTS) contract, a long-awaited collaboration between the United States Transportation Command and DLA Distribution, launched as an upgrade to the Defense Transportation Coordination Initiative (DTCI), which aimed to provide a single touch point for DoD shipments by allowing a commercial third party firm to manage and coordinate transportation.

MANAMA, Bahrain — Army Maj. Gen. Flem B. "Donnie" Walker Jr., commanding general, 1st Sustainment Command (Theater) and deputy commanding general‐ Sustainment for United States Army Central, visited Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Bahrain, Southwest Asia on Feb. 27. DLA Distribution Bahrain Commander, Navy Cmdr. Charles Tellis and his leadership team provided a command brief and a tour of the facilities.

Distribution’s Lewis receives command assignment to Army’s 308th Brigade Support Battalion

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — Army Lt. Col. Christina Lewis, DLA Distribution Future Plans, has been selected to command the 308th Brigade Support Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Brigade, out of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
