Vietnam Veteran recognized as beacon of support to New Cumberland installation

Some may say that the recent civilian retirement of Joseph Spielbauer, executive director, Pennsylvania Military Community Enhancement Commission is bittersweet. For Spielbauer, it means more personal time; for those who worked with him and relied on his support and expertise, it means a huge void. At the New Cumberland installation, Jan. 28, one day prior to Spielbauer’s retirement, senior leaders honored the Vietnam Veteran for his support to his country, both in uniform and out.

The visit was part of the ROTC Combined Arms Leadership Development Exercise aimed to enhance cadets ‘professional experience and leadership skills

United States Army Brig. Gen. Richard B. Dix addressed a crowd at the Culinary Institute of America’s Veterans Day celebration in Hyde Park, N.Y. In his opening remarks, Dix described to the audience of students, teachers, and family members, the importance of Veterans Day as a day set aside to thank and honor all those who served honorably in the military.

For many local community members, a Thanksgiving meal can be difficult to afford. On Nov. 20, military members and their spouses stationed at Defense Distribution Center, Susquehanna helped the West Shore Senior Center provide meals to those in need.

Members of the Continuity of Operations planners of Defense Logistics Agency Distribution gathered in the Emergency Supply Operations Center of Defense Distribution Susquehanna on Nov. 6 to test the center’s ability to receive high priority ESOC orders, and to successfully pick, pack and ship items to the customer, in an environment where Defense Standard System is not available.
