Tribute to aircraft maintainers added to Heritage Today video series

161104-N-VR008-0102 PACIFIC OCEAN (Nov. 4, 2016) An F-35B Lightning II aircraft takes off from the flight deck of amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) during flight operations. The F-35B short takeoff/vertical landing (STOVL) variant is the world’s first supersonic STOVL stealth aircraft. America, with Marine Operational Test and Evaluation Squadron 1 (VMX-1), Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 211 (VMFA-211) and Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 23 (VX-23) embarked, are underway conducting operational testing and the third phase of developmental testing for the F-35B Lightning II aircraft, respectively. The tests will evaluate the full spectrum of joint strike fighter measures of suitability and effectiveness in an at-sea environment. First F-35B Power Module, Engine Swap Take Place on USS America

PACIFIC OCEAN — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the U.S. Pacific Command website — The F-35B Lightning II completed a new milestone during its third and final Developmental Test Phase (DT-III) by successfully completing the first power module and engine swap at sea in the hangar bay of amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6).

Marines, Sailors get upgrades to flame resistant uniform

MARINE CORPS SYSTEMS COMMAND — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Marine Corps website — The Enhanced Fire Resistant Combat Ensemble is the latest upgrade to the Corps’ Flame Resistant Combat Ensemble inventory, updating a long-sleeve shirt and trousers with a new flame resistant material that allows the uniform to self-extinguish reducing the incidence and severity of burn injuries.

DLA Distribution San Diego, Calif., at Port Hueneme, has partnered with the Navy Program Executive Office Littoral Combat Ships to support the battle spares program by storing main propulsion engines for the LCS program at a central location. PORT HUENEME, California — Defense Logistics Agency Distribution San Diego, Calif., at Port Hueneme, has partnered with the Navy Program Executive Office Littoral Combat Ships to support the battle spares program by storing main propulsion engines for the LCS program at a central location.

Troop Support Academy shows workforce their impact on warfighter

PHILADELPHIA — On a base with no tanks, ships or jets, and while tucked away in office cubicles, many Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support employees rarely encounter the military might they help provide.

During a Nov. 2 presentation about disaster preparedness during winter months at Defense Supply Center Columbus, Christopher Williams, a community response coordinator for Franklin County, Ohio said many common dangers are amplified during severe cold weather.

Experts promote winter safety at DSCC

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Associates at Defense Supply Center Columbus are taking steps to prepare for cold weather, including learning about hazards that become more frequent during the winter months.

The Honorable Robert Rigsby, an associate judge with the District of Columbia's Superior Court, speaks at the Federal Executive Association's annual workshop Nov. 7 at Defense Supply Center Columbus. The FEA sponsors the workshop each year to improve and leverage coordination between central Ohio's federal organizations.
