Navy birthday celebrates ‘America’s Sailor’

Members of the Navy from organizations across the McNamara Headquarters Complex came together to celebrate 241 years of history during the Navy’s birthday ceremony at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Oct. 12.

Eglin to privatize all four utility systems

Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Air Force Civil Engineer Center website — The Defense Logistics Agency awarded a utilities privatization contract to Choctawhatchee Electric Cooperative, or CHELCO, to own, operate and maintain the electrical system infrastructure at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida for 50 years.

Troop Support provides food, helipad materials for Hurricane Matthew relief

PHILADELPHIA — As the Navy hospital ship USNS Comfort deployed to support Hurricane Matthew relief efforts, it did so with a timely re-supply of food by DLA. “DLA Troop Support is uniquely positioned to respond to crises like Hurricane Matthew at a moment’s notice with world class logistics,” said Victor Harmon, DLA Troop Support Customer Operations.

Troop Support celebrates Navy’s 241st birthday

PHILADELPHIA — DLA Troop Support celebrated the Navy’s 241st birthday and the service’s tradition, pride and core values after a senior leader staff meeting Oct. 11.

Deputy commander conducts safety inspection as Troop Support reaches for star status

PHILADELPHIA — The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support took a step towards achieving recognition for workplace safety with a senior leader inspection Sept. 29.

Outgoing DLA Distribution Yokosuka, Japan, commander Navy Cmdr. Brian Johnson has received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal for his achievements in leading the distribution center from June 2014 to October 2016.

Yokosuka commander receives Defense Meritorious Service award

YOKOSUKA, Japan — Outgoing DLA Distribution Yokosuka, Japan, commander Navy Cmdr. Brian Johnson has received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal for his achievements in leading the distribution center from June 2014 to October 2016.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 20 people are physically victimized by an intimate partner in the United States every minute—more than 10 million women and men each year.

One in four women and one in seven men have been victims of severe physical violence by an intimate partner, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Every October, National Domestic Awareness Month is observed to prevent domestic abuse and intimate-partner violence.
