As we approach Veterans Day, I want to recognize our veterans…active-duty service members, guardsmen, and reservists who have served our great country. I am proud to say that over 2,600 DLA Distribution employees are veterans — still serving this country with the same sense of duty and perseverance.

Flag Precedence: Why the Marine Corps is senior to the Navy

Anyone who has attended a military event or sat in a briefing where the Service flags are displayed should know that the order of precedence goes from left to right. The National Ensign followed by the Army, Marine Corps, Navy…wait. What? The Marine Corps is senior to the Navy in order of precedence even though it is an underling to the Department of the Navy? Is it because we can do more pull-ups? Run farther? Carry more weight? Have better looking uniforms? No. It’s a little debatable but seems to stem from a litany of historical events.

Honoring their sacrifice: Marine Corps turns 245

This year we celebrate the 245th Birthday of our Corps. On Feb 23, 2020 we commemorated the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima and the raising of our flag on Mount Suribachi. Iwo was a bloody, 36-day long chapter in the World War II Pacific saga as our brothers fought and died for control of the tiny atoll.

Navy Develops Unmanned Air System for Ship Cargo Resupply

DLA closes out fiscal 2020 with strong small business partnership

The Defense Logistics Agency exceeded its small business contracting goal for the eighth consecutive year by awarding more than 40% of its annual contract dollars to small businesses. Fiscal 2020 also marked the third year in a row that DLA exceeded $15 billion in contract awards to small businesses.

Excess property continues to aid fight against pandemic

Forces battling the pandemic have much to be thankful for this year as Defense Logistics Agency employees at DLA Disposition Services locations across the country have transferred almost $36.8 million worth of excess military items to service members and first responders working to stop the coronavirus spread and help those already afflicted.
