For proper implementation, users must consult the detailed guidance and business rules contained within the applicable IC.
  • Governing Standards: All data elements are governed by the Accredited Standards Committee X12 (ASC X12) and the policies within DLM 4000.25, Defense Logistics Management Standards (DLMS). The ASC X12 is the governing source for X12, which is an electronic data interchange (EDI) standard.

  830W LQ01 AJ Utilization Code Use to identify a specialized purpose of the transaction 1. Under DLS, this is the first position of the document serial number. 2. DLMS enhancement; see introductory DLMS note 3a.
  830W LQ01 GQ Group Qualifier Code Use to identify the Materiel Management Aggregation Code (MMAC) for National Stock Number (NSN) to be managed by a specific manager (i.e., system, program, aggregation, selected FSC, technology group) Use to identify the MAC for NSNs to be managed by a specific manager (i.e., system, program, aggregation, selected FSC, technology group). This is an Air Force-unique data element, meaningful to the Air Force only. Non-Air Force Components perpetuate without action. A - data maintenance action was approved in version 5010. The approved code/name is “MAC-Material Management Aggregation code”. The code source is identified as the Air Force Manual (AFMAN) 23-10, Volumes 1 and 2.
  830W LQ01 LZ War Reserve Material Requirement Code Must use to identify PWR requirement forecast.
  830W LQ01 COG Cognizance Symbol Use for internal Navy management purposes to classify items by technical program, type of fund, and to indicate the cognizant Inventory Control Point (ICP) and technically responsible command Use for an end item. Indicate NSL for non-stock numbered listed items. This is a Navy-unique data element meaningful to Navy only; Non-Navy Components are to perpetuate without action.
  830W LQ01 IMC Item Management Code Use to indicate whether an item of supply shall be subject to integrated management or shall be retained by the individual military service or other DoD Component for their management Use for integrated material management. Indicate NSL for non-stock numbered listed items. This is a Navy-unique data element meaningful to Navy only; Non-Navy Components are to perpetuate without action.
  830W LQ01 MCC Material Control Code Use to denote the expendability, repairability, recoverability, and cost category employed in the management of an item of supply within the Navy Use for special inventory reporting. Indicate NSL for non-stock numbered listed items. This is a Navy-unique data element meaningful to Navy only; Non-Navy Components are to perpetuate without action.
  830W LQ01 SMI Special Material Identification Code Use to categorize material on the basis of requirements for source or quality control; technical design or configuration control; procurement, stocking, and issue control; special receipt, inspection, testing, storage, or handling Indicate NSL for non-stock numbered listed items. This is a Navy-unique data element meaningful to Navy only; Non-Navy Components are to perpetuate without action.

  832N BCT01 AP Accountable Property Catalog 1. Used to identify catalog data support communicated between Air Force Contractor Inventory Control Points and the Air Force Property System of Record. Refer to ADC 127. 2. Use for all other circumstances not detailed in BCT01. 3. Approved for use in X12 version 8010.
  832N BCT01 CP Customized Catalog Use to identify catalog data support communicated between DLA Disposition Services, DLA Distribution Services Field Offices, and Distribution Centers supporting Reutilization Business Integration (RBI). Catalog data support transactions identified by BCT01=CP are referred to in this document as ‘DLA Disposition Services Catalog Data Support.'.
  832N BCT01 RC Resale Catalog Use to identify catalog data support communicated between DLA and maintenance/Industrial activities (IAs) authorized by DLA IA support agreement supporting Supply, Storage, and Distribution (S&D). Catalog data support transactions identified by BCT01=RC are referred to in this document as ‘S&D Catalog Data Support’.
  832N BCT01 SC Sales Catalog Use to identify catalog data support communicated between DLA Disposition Services and DLA Distribution Services Field Offices supporting Reutilization Business Integration (RBI). Catalog data support transactions identified by BCT01=SC are referred to in this document as ‘Sales Contract Catalog Data Support.' Note: Only the following detail level functional data is applicable to this process: Generic Name Description, Sales Contract Number, Sales Contract Line Item Number, Remaining Authorized Quantity, and Unit of Measure.
  832N BCT10 0 Original Indicates the initial transaction Must use to satisfy syntax requirements. Refer to the LIN segment for the purpose code (ad, change, delete).

  832N N101 41 Submitter Identifies the preparer of this transaction.
  832N N101 OW Owner of Property or Unit For Air Force GFP accountability, use to identify the Air Force program manager in the accountable property system of record (APSR). Must identify the program manager by RIC. If the program manager DODAAC does not have an assigned RIC, use the generic Air Force GFP APSR RIC with 1/N106=TO and use an additional iteration of this N1 loop (repeating Code OW without 1/N1061=TO) to provide the program manager DODAAC. Refer to ADC 127A.
  832N N101 PK Party to Receive Copy Identifies an additional organization to receive a copy of this transaction.
  832N N103 10 Department of Defense Activity Address Code (DODAAC) Use to identify specific units, activities, and/or organizations. The first position indicates the Component or other Government element of ownership or sponsorship. The remaining five positions are assigned under established products by the Service point of the participating Component
  832N N103 M4 Department of Defense Routing Identifier Code (RIC) Use to serve multiple purposes; supply source codes, inter-system routing codes, intra-system routing codes, and consignor (shipper) codes
  832N N106 FR Message From Use to identify the party originating the transaction set Must use with the appropriate 1/N101/150 code to indicate that the organization cited in N104 is originating the transaction set.
  832N N106 TO Message To Use to identify the party to receive the transaction set Must use with the appropriate 1/N101/150 code to indicate the organization cited in N104 is receiving the transaction.
  832N LIN02 FS National Stock Number Catalog Data Support
  832N LIN02 GE Generic Name Description Use only with the Catalog Purpose Code SC to identify the generic name, category, or description for the type of property acceptable under a specified sales contract line item. (Field length restricted to 40 characters.).
  832N LIN02 MG Manufacturer's Part Number A number assigned by a manufacturer to an item of production Use in part number query/response to identify the part number being researched.
  832N LIN02 SW Stock Number 1. Use to identify the Local Stock Number. 2. Authorized for use by DLA Disposition Services to identify scrap material issued under a scrap venture or scrap salvage and recycling contract. Refer to ADC 1234. 3. Must use for Catalog Purpose Code AP. Refer to ADC 127.
  832N LIN04 AB Assembly Identifies the type of assembly as a cross-reference for the assigned LSN. Applicable to MCMC LSNs assigned for assembly identification. C - Control Kit P - Process Kit O - Other
  832N LIN04 ZB Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) Code Code assigned to establishments which either fabricates items of production and/or have design control of items procured by the federal government, or to identify certain military specifications or standards, and certain numbering systems developed by government agencies, panels or committees Must use with part number to identify the applicable manufacturer’s CAGE.
  832N LIN06 KM Shelf-Life Code 1. Use to indicate the storage time period or perishability of an item (FLIS DRN 2943). 2. For Air Force CICP, must use when LIN01 = LA. Otherwise only use when value changes to identify the shelf life of an item. Refer to ADC 127 and ADC 127B.
  832N LIN06 TP Product Type Code Use only for DLA Disposition Services Catalog Data Support (Catalog Purpose Code CP) to identify the Disposition Services LSN Type Code. Use only with LIN04=SW. Each Disposition Service LSN will be assigned to a specific category/type using the following values. Catalog Data Support.

  832N LIN10 KN Shelf-Life Action Code Identifies the two digit code specifying the type of inspection test or restorative action to be taken when an item has reached its storage shelf life and of any extension of the shelf life time period after the test or restorative has been completed. (FLIS DRN 1485).
  832N LIN12 KJ Material Control Code Use to denote the expendability, repairability, recoverability, and cost category employed in the management of an item of supply within the Navy Used for special inventory reporting. Segregates inventory into manageable groups (i.e. fast, medium, or slow) or to relate to field activities special reporting or control requirements. (FLIS data applicable to DLRs, FLIS DRN 261).
  832N LIN16 KI Cognizance Symbol Use for internal Navy management purposes to classify items by technical program, type of fund, and to indicate the cognizant Inventory Control Point (ICP) and technically responsible command FLIS DRN 2608.
  832N LIN18 KD Replacement National Stock Number 1. Use with the Catalog Purpose Code RN to identify the replacement NSN when stock for requested NSN has been exhausted. The original NSN must be identified in 2/LIN02-03. 2. Use with the Catalog Purpose Code NS to identify the replacement NSN when original NSN has been superseded. The original NSN must be identified in 2/LIN02-03. 3. Use with the Catalog Purpose Code RS to identify the NSN to be used when original NSN has been exhausted. The original NSN must be identified in 2/LIN02-03.
  832N LIN20 FY Department of Defense Line Item Number 1. Use for Air Force GFP-A to identify the Line Item Number/Table of Authorized Material Control Number. 2. Local code FY is established for use in the 832N, version 4030. A data maintenance action will be submitted to establish ‘FY- Line Item Number/Table of Authorized Material Control Number Line Item Number/Table of Authorized Material Control Number' in a future version. 3.   832N LIN22 FZ Reportable Commodity Type 1. For Air Force GFP-A, must use when LIN01 = LA. Otherwise, use only when value changes to identify a specific commodity type for the type of equipment and materiel to be issued to a unit or individual. Refer to ADCs 127 and 127B. 2. Local code FZ is established for use in the 832N, version 4030. A data maintenance action will be submitted to establish ‘FZ- Reportable Commodity Type ' in a future version.
  832N LIN24 G1 Security Commodity Type 1. For Air Force GFP-A, must use when LIN01 = LA. Otherwise, use only when value changes to identify a specific commodity type for the type of equipment and materiel to be issued to a unit or individual. Refer to ADC 127 and ADC 127B. 2. Local code G1 is established for use in the 832N, version 4030. A data maintenance action will be submitted to establish ‘G1- Security Commodity Type' in a future version.
  832N LIN26 G2 Asset Sub-Category 1. For Air Force GFP-A, must use when LIN01 = LA. Otherwise, use only when value changes to identify an asset sub-category in the Air Force APSR based on depreciation rules. Must correspond with the Correct Asset Category Code. Refer to ADC 127 and ADC 127B. 2. Local code G2 is established for use in the 832N, version 4030. A data maintenance action will be submitted to establish ‘G2- Asset Sub-Category' in a future version.
  832N DTM01 92 Contract Effective Use to identify date of the contract award. Refer to ADC 1234.
  832N DTM01 93 Contract Expiration Use to advise the DLA Disposition Services Field Office which scrap items are going to expire on the scrap sales contract. The date listed will be the last day that item is valid for the contract. Refer to ADC 1234.
  832N DTM01 166 Message Use to enable users to identify the transaction date when transmitting material master records to the APSR.
  832N DTM01 171 Revision Use to advise the DLA Disposition Services Field Office of any authorized contract extensions for scrap sales contractors. Refer to ADC 1234.
