What is it?

The Close Combat Assault Ration (CCAR) is a compact, eat-on-the-move assault ration designed for short durations of highly mobile, high intensity combat operations. The CCAR is substantially reduced in weight and cube and enhances Warfighter consumption, nutritional intake, and mobility. The intended purpose of the CCAR is for usage during the first 72 hours of a conflict in lieu of using Meals, Ready-to-Eat (MRE), which are heavier and more voluminous. The CCAR has 10 packs per shipping container consisting of 3 different menus. The net weight per case is approximately 25 lbs. and the cube per case is .98. The net weight per pallet is approximately 1278 lbs. and the cube per pallet is 56.88.

What is in it?

 

The contents of one CCAR provides enough food for an entire day in a mobile and combat intensive scenario and 2800 kilocalories.

How do I eat it?

All components of this ration are eat-out-of-hand/eat-on-the move type foods that require no or little preparation by the Warfighter.

How long will it last?

The shelf life of the CCAR is 1100 days at 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
