iGIRDER FAQ

Interactive Government & Industry Data Edit & Review (iGIRDER) is accessible from any personal computer or workstation with Internet web browser capability, for example, Netscape Navigation or Internet Explorer, Versions 4.0 or greater.

Interactive Government & Industry Data Edit & Review (iGIRDER) is an Internet tool for Government and Industry communication. Established in 2001, iGIRDER is a web based interactive application that serves as both a maintenance tool and information source for manufacturers, vendors, and suppliers. It provides online capability to review their part numbers and propose changes to obsolete, incomplete, or inaccurate information between the Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) Code  , manufacturer part number, and National Stock Number (NSN). The iGIRDER application serves as a real time link between Department of Defense (DOD) and private industry resulting in an uninterrupted flow of items required to support DOD logistics requirements worldwide.

At the start menu, there is a training link that is interactive web based computer training that will familiarize the user on how to use the application.

A variety of manufacturers' item names for identical parts created inconsistencies in the various logistics management systems, making it difficult to control inventories. A common language of supply was needed to manage the growing complexity of modern logistics. Please understand how important it is to establish a common name and description for a single item.

In reviewing for accuracy, understand that part numbers may be reformatted to meet government standards e.g. (P/N) 35657-5% will read 35657-5PCT in the FCS. A (P/N) 4' BY 4' will read 4FTX4FT in the FCS. For additional formatting procedures refer to DOD 4100.39-M Volume 10, Table 22

Permissible combinations of two iGIRDER Action codes are when Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) Code  and part number/reference number are changed: J1L1 J1L2 J1L3 J2L1

All submitted updates are entered on the 15th of each month; however, not all submittals are automatically updated. If items are related to a weapon system, they require engineering and Inventory Control Point (ICP) review. You can track the status of updates in Quality Data Base (QDB) by entering your Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) Code  or Part Number.

You must go to the Federal Mall (FedMall) web site and follow the instructions for registering as a commercial supplier to the FedMall.

There are two ways to accomplish this. The first is for you to request a file for the losing company's Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) Code , have them fill it out with the appropriate Government & Industry Data Edit & Review (GIRDER) codes and then send it back to the GIRDER office for input. The second way is to fill out the file at the gaining company's CAGE code, but this requires you to e-mail a copy of the Novation Documents to the GIRDER office at   igirder@dla.mil

Yes, request a Government & Industry Data Edit & Review (GIRDER) file be sent to you through Interactive Government & Industry Data Edit & Review (iGIRDER). This can be sent to you in one of many formats in either paper or electronic versions.

No, for security reasons there can be only one authenticated and authorized user per Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) Code   access (registration). You may, however, register the same person for each of the CAGE codes and provide a single letter of authentication authorizing that individual the authority to update reference numbers.
