DLA Land and Maritime wraps up food drive, launches pledge campaign
The Defense Supply Center Columbus concluded a month-long food drive, collecting 9,143 pounds of goods that will go on to support more than 525,000 individuals in Central Ohio. The goods were donated to a local food bank Sept. 18. The food drive was part of an annual summer event, Feds Feed Families. Associates donated many critical food items needed including peanut butter, soups containing vegetables, tuna, chili with beans and canned meat, vegetables and fruit as well as critical non-food items such as diapers, personal hygiene items and pet food.
Sept. 20, 2018 - Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime and the Defense Supply Center Columbus recently showed community support through food drives and charitable giving. The DSCC workforce concluded a month-long food drive, collecting 9,143 pounds of goods that will go on to support more than 525,000 individuals in Central Ohio.

John Palmer at the Eagle Eye Golf Course Sept. 7.
Sept. 13, 2018 - DSCC and DLA Land and Maritime Commander Navy Rear Adm. John Palmer hosted the 21st Annual Commander’s Cup at the Eagle Eye Golf Course Sept. 7. The event builds comradery across various directorates and tenants on the installation.

Mission


Provide effective and efficient worldwide support to Warfighters and our other customers.

To best support the DLA mission, DLA Land and Maritime Public Affairs provides guidance to the commander, senior leadership, directorates, staffs and detachments, as well as all tenants of Defense Supply Center Columbus.The office develops and administers proactive command information, media relations and public outreach policies and programs that communicate DLA’s critical role as a combat support agency, value added to DOD, COCOMs, the military services and warfighters, and the American people using internal and external communication avenues.

Media Relations

Our Media Relations develops well thought out and responsive media operations.  The team adjusts quickly to both the scale of news media coverage and the organization's ability to communicate effectively and within the parameters provided.  The team works in concert with the News and Internal Information team to gain synergy of effort and information across all DLA audiences.

Goals and initiatives of the media relations team are to:

  • Increase positive media coverage of DLA, its mission, people, capabilities and services.
  • Increase dissemination of DLA’s compelling story as America's logistics combat support agency. Targeted, strategic engagement of the media provides DLA the opportunity to educate the American public about how the agency uses taxpayer resources as well as informing warfighters about DLA support. 

News and Web Operations

The News and Web Operations provides DLA related news and information to internal and external – non media- audiences. To build and maintain credibility, the team ensures all products are timely, accurate and consistent across audiences. In addition to operating DLA Land and Maritime's website, the team contributes to the agency flagship magazine, Loglines.
