DLA Land and Maritime awards millions to Ohio small businesses in first half of fiscal year
July 5, 2018 - The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime awarded nearly $78.5 million to Ohio small businesses in the first half of this fiscal year ending March 31st. This number includes more than $29.5 million in award dollars to small businesses in the Columbus region. The majority of dollars were awarded to small businesses in the manufacturing sector, with the following areas receiving the most award dollars: General Purpose Machinery Manufacturing, Motor Vehicle Transmission and Power Train Parts Manufacturing, Fluid Power Pump and Motor Manufacturing and Industrial Valve Manufacturing.

Logistics center welcomes new leader, Skubic gains second star
Rear Adm. John Palmer took command of Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime and the Defense Supply Center Columbus in a ceremony June 27 at the installation. In the military custom, Palmer accepted the organizational flag from DLA Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell K. Williams, who presided over the ceremony. Palmer succeeds Rear Adm. Michelle Skubic, who will next serve as the Chief of the Navy's Supply Corps and commander of the Naval Supply Systems Command in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.
June 27, 2018 - Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime and the Defense Supply Center Columbus bid farewell to Navy Rear Adm. Michelle Skubic and welcomed Rear Adm. John Palmer during a change of command ceremony June 27 on base.

Mission


Provide effective and efficient worldwide support to Warfighters and our other customers.

To best support the DLA mission, DLA Land and Maritime Public Affairs provides guidance to the commander, senior leadership, directorates, staffs and detachments, as well as all tenants of Defense Supply Center Columbus.The office develops and administers proactive command information, media relations and public outreach policies and programs that communicate DLA’s critical role as a combat support agency, value added to DOD, COCOMs, the military services and warfighters, and the American people using internal and external communication avenues.

Media Relations

Our Media Relations develops well thought out and responsive media operations.  The team adjusts quickly to both the scale of news media coverage and the organization's ability to communicate effectively and within the parameters provided.  The team works in concert with the News and Internal Information team to gain synergy of effort and information across all DLA audiences.

Goals and initiatives of the media relations team are to:

  • Increase positive media coverage of DLA, its mission, people, capabilities and services.
  • Increase dissemination of DLA’s compelling story as America's logistics combat support agency. Targeted, strategic engagement of the media provides DLA the opportunity to educate the American public about how the agency uses taxpayer resources as well as informing warfighters about DLA support. 

News and Web Operations

The News and Web Operations provides DLA related news and information to internal and external – non media- audiences. To build and maintain credibility, the team ensures all products are timely, accurate and consistent across audiences. In addition to operating DLA Land and Maritime's website, the team contributes to the agency flagship magazine, Loglines.
