Commentary: DLA Makes Me the Lucky One

Adults far into their career always say we are “the lucky ones” because we have a clean slate to start our careers in whichever direction we choose to push ourselves. However, for a while, I believed it was those successful career people who were the lucky ones.

2020 Solicitation for FY20 DLA Enterprise Rotation Program

The developmental assignments have been posted for the FY20 DLA Enterprise Rotation Program. Nominations are now being accepted. Enterprise assignments are cross-organizational, at the GS-11 through GS-15 level, and range in length from 3 to 12 months. Assignments are available at several locations throughout the Agency and begin in January 2020 or shortly thereafter.

Thule receives critical resupply shipment only once a year

Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Peterson Air Force Base website — Pacer Goose Sustainment is the Air Force’s annual resupply mission for Thule Air Base in Greenland. This is the only time of the year when the Airmen of the 821st Air Base Group are provided with critical supplies.

Empowering leaders at LULAC

Two DLA Energy employees attended the League of United Latin American Citizens 90th annual national convention and exposition in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, July 10 -13. Resolution Specialist Christian Sivelle and Supply Systems Analyst Carmen Tallada attended the four-day convention that brought together more than 20,000 Latino leaders from across the country for seminars and events.

Uniform issue on schedule

Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the 403rd Wing website — As the deadline for Airmen to don the new Operational Camouflage Pattern uniform approaches, the 403rd Logistics Readiness Squadron is working to get uniforms to its Reserve Citizen Airmen. The Air Force’s May 2018 decision to transition into a single combat uniform eliminates the need to maintain two separate uniforms – one for in-garrison and one for deployments.

Faith services offered at DSCC

Chaplain Liaisons provide encouragement to employees in support of the spiritual pillar of the DLA Land and Maritime Resiliency Program under the People and Culture Directorate. Bible Class and Prayer Warriors groups formed at DSCC in the late 1990’s by a small group of employees and a volunteer Chaplain Liaison of the Christian faith.

Army Capt. Ryan Campbell, a joint logistics plans officer for Defense Logistics Agency Indo-Pacific, was recognized for his support during Pacific Sentry in a July ceremony at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii.

PaCER Proteges save the government time and money

In the midst of the current DLA cash crunch, two DLA Land and Maritime associates have indirectly developed a few ways to save the agency some money. DLA Demand Supply Chain Analyst Christopher Rodriguez and DLA Maritime Customer Relations Customer Account Specialist Jeffrey Day have collaborated on quite a few projects in their two-year tenure in the Pathways to Career Excellence Program (PACE) at DLA Land and Maritime Columbus, Ohio.
