DLA encourages employees to take steps to prepare for hurricane season well before it arrives.

Employees urged to get 'hurricane ready' this week

To help Americans prepare for dangerous flooding, destructive winds and tornadoes generated by hurricanes, the National Weather Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are sponsoring Hurricane Preparedness Week May 7-13.

Navy Culinary Specialists Serve Tasty Excellence

SILVERDALE, Wash. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Department of Defense website — In the Navy, the culinary specialist rate was established January 15, 2004. Prior to 1975 they were known as mess management specialists, commissary men and stewards.

Today, self-defense is more important than ever; it brings a sense of security that empowers you to face any situation. DLA Land and Maritime provides Krav Maga classes which will teach a student how to use efficient, explosive force designed to overcome an assailant and get away to safety.

Norfolk distribution center celebrates Navy chief petty officer’s birthday

NORFOLK, Virginia — April 1 marked the 124th birthday of the Navy chief petty officer rank. The team at DLA Distribution Norfolk, Virginia, paused on March 31 to celebrate this event.

The official logo shows the actual weapons and vehicle used in the exercise, along with references to the participating Army Reserve units.

Live-fire, last-minute, no problem for Information Operations' support of Army Reserve exercise

A lone Document Services employee was able to produce a complex official logo for an Army Reserve live-fire exercise on short notice, to praise from the customer.

At the ceremony, Rand presented Busch with the Defense Distinguished Service Medal.

DLA director retires after 38-year Air Force career

Defense Logistics Agency Director Lt. Gen. Andy Busch marked the end of his 38-year Air Force career May 4 with a retirement ceremony at DLA Headquarters, Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

New program delivers emergency-ready masks to Airmen

TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer Center website — A clean and serviceable M50 mask can be the most important piece of equipment Airmen can have in a war-time environment. Now that equipment will have more reliability, after having gone through the new Air Force Mask Inspection and Repair Program.

DLA Distribution practices the Continuity of Operations Plan

FORT INDIANTOWN GAP, Pennsylvania — In keeping with the efforts to strengthen preparedness capabilities, the Continuity of Operations planners of Defense Logistics Agency Distribution recently took the Emergency Relocation Group to an alternate work site. Federal Continuity Directive 1, dated October 26, 2012, governs the COOP program, and training visits to alternate work sites are one of its annual requirements. It states there are four pillars of continuity capabilities: leadership, staff, communication and facilities.
