Oklahoma City’s Purnell named Employee of the Quarter

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma — Arthur Purnell, a material examiner and identifier for Central Receiving at DLA Distribution Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was named DLA Distribution Employee of the Quarter for the first quarter of fiscal year 2017.

Upon contract award, Defense Logistics Agency Installation Support Energy project managers will oversee new technologies that will clean the soil and groundwater using electrical resistance heating and steam injection at Defense Fuel Support Point San Pedro.

New technologies lead San Pedro DFSP restoration efforts

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — A pilot study using new technologies will set the stage for remedial efforts to remove contaminants in the fuel tank farm area at Defense Fuel Support Point San Pedro.

Maintenance miracle workers

MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Mountain Home Air Force Base website — The Air Force Repair Enhancement Program here performs miracles all the time. Recently, the four-person shop repaired a $20,000 power supply headed for the trash by replacing a $5 resistor, the equivalent of fixing a $300 phone with an eight-cent paper clip.

Corpus’s Fernandez named Employee of the Quarter

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Emily Fernandez, a distribution process worker at DLA Distribution Corpus Christi, Texas, has been named DLA Distribution Employee of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2016.

Two DLA locations will this month undergo an inspection from the National Archves and Records Administration on its management of federal records.

National Archives to inspect DLA records management this month

The long wait for another inspection of the Defense Logistics Agency’s Records Management Program ends this month, when officials from the National Archives and Records Administration visit two DLA sites.

Biomedical equipment tech repairs, replaces vital deployed medical gear

SOUTHWEST ASIA — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the U.S. Air Forces Central Command website — Staff Sgt. Ryan McGinnis, the sole biomedical equipment technician is charged with the maintenance and calibration of all the equipment doctors and medics rely on. He holds responsibility for everything from lab equipment and refrigerators to life-saving equipment such as defibrillators and infusion pumps.

55th CES office puts pavement first

OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Offutt Air Force Base website — With a crew of only 14 civilians, the 55th Civil Engineer Squadron’s pavement and equipment section is responsible for repairs to base roads, parking lots and the runway, while also completing side jobs like demolishing the Capehart pool, responding to emergency water line breaks, fixing the perimeter fence and removing snow in the winter months.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week.
