Ken Wilmoth has worked with produce since he was a kid helping pull his parents’ produce cart. Now as a Subsistence field representative, he works directly with customers at military bases and schools to ensure they receive quality fresh fruit and vegetables.

On Oct. 28, Defense Logistics Agency director Air Force Lt. Gen. Andrew E. Busch presented Defense Distribution Center, Susquehanna the Commander in Chief’s Annual Award for Installation Excellence, the highest award for excellence among installations.

CFC Agency Fair held on Susquehanna installation

In addition to donating to a favorite non-profit, the Combined Federal Campaign provides an opportunity for Federal employees to learn about other local charities and the services they provide. As it often happens, making a personal connection to a charity leads to a mutually benefiting, long-term relationship. To educate employees and make those connections, an agency fair was held at Defense Distribution Center, Susquehanna, Nov. 5.

Guam distribution center holds active shooter exercise

A 2000-2013 Federal Bureau of Investigation study reported approximately 160 active shooter incidents in the United States, which have occurred in commerce areas, education environments, open spaces, residences, houses of worship, health care facilities, military, and other government properties. “Here on Guam, a beautiful tropical island in the Pacific, we are not immune to such an occurrence of an active shooter situation,” said Macy Ooka, the DLA Distribution Guam, Marianas’ director. “I felt duty-bound to address this very real threat.” As a result, on October 27, the distribution center conducted its first ever full-scale active shooter exercise.

Crisis exercise tests DLA, Air Force employees in rapid deployment

Defense Logistics Agency employees joined personnel from the Air Force and U.S. Transportation Command to test their rapid-deployment skills, as well as the system used to deploy logistics personnel to crises around the world, during the “Turbo Distribution” exercise in late October.
