Skubic named next commander of Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. John M. Richardson announced that Navy Rear Admiral (Lower Half) Michelle C. Skubic has been selected to serve as the next commander at DLA Land and Maritime.  Skubic is currently serving as director, Logistics, Fleet Supply and Ordnance, N4, US Pacific Fleet.  Rear Adm. DLA Distribution announces fourth annual “Global Distribution Excellence” awards winners

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — DLA Distribution has announced the winners of the 2015 “Global Distribution Excellence” awards.

DLA Distribution Korea commander Army Lt. Col. Mark Wolf reenlists Sgt. Stephanie Swann and her husband Sgt. Jonathan Swann in a reenlistment ceremony on March 7.

A family affair: Korea hosts husband and wife reenlistment ceremony

CAMP CARROLL, Korea — DLA Distribution Korea commander Army Lt. Col. Mark Wolf hosted a double reenlistment ceremony for his material management noncommissioned officer Army Sgt. Stephanie Swann and her husband Army Sgt. Jonathan Swann on March 7.

Contractors are installing 252 geothermal wells to heat and cool the new Defense Logistics Agency Aviation Operations Center Feb. 17, 2016. The first phase of the three-phased, five-story, 252,000 square-feet building is scheduled for occupancy in late 2018 or early 2019.

New DLA operations center to use environmentally friendly technology

Geothermal wells are only one of the environmentally friendly technologies being used in the construction of the new Defense Logistics Agency Aviation Operations Center.

Carter: DoD-MIT Partnership to Produce Fabrics That See, Hear, Sense

WASHINGTON — Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced that DoD is partnering with an 89-member consortium to establish a new manufacturing innovation institute focused on revolutionary fibers and textiles.

Norfolk’s chief of staff retires after 30 years of service

NORFOLK, Virginia — Navy Lt. Cmdr. Christopher S. Mayfield Sr., chief of staff at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Norfolk, Va., officially retired on April 1 after 30 years of service to the Navy. The ceremony was officiated by Navy Capt. Harry Thetford, commander of the distribution center.

Troop Support employees help welcome home Vietnam vets

PHILADELPHIA — The welcome home was worth the 50-year wait, one veteran said following a Vietnam War Commemoration program March 29. DLA Troop Support employees helped cheer for more than 400 Vietnam vets as they paraded down a red carpet to the ceremony.

DLA Distribution Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, employee Ikaika Anderson has been named DLA Distribution’s Employee of the Quarter for first quarter, fiscal year 2016.
