USMC commandant sees DLA support of Marines during Philly visit

PHILADELPHIA — The Marine Corps’ highest-ranking officer visited DLA Troop Support Nov. 2 to learn more about the organization and how it supports America’s Marines.

Army Lt. Col. Debra Hernandez, the first nutritionist in the Subsistence supply chain, works in her DLA Troop Support office in Philadelphia. Hernandez, a registered dietitian, uses her more than 25 years of experience to analyze products’ ingredients and ensure they are meeting customer’s nutritional needs.

Food advisor adds nutritional value to Subsistence

PHILADELPHIA — Subsistence’s first nutritionist has helped DLA Troop Support offer healthier food items to military customers since arriving two years ago. Army Lt. Col. Debra Hernandez is a registered dietitian with more than 25 years of experience.

Commentary: My first week with DLA

PHILADELPHIA — Shawn J. Jones is in his second week in DLA Troop Support's Corporate Communications office. While he's just beginning his DLA career, he's been with DLA for almost two decades.

Army Lt. Col. Paul McCullough, a special projects officer in DLA Troop Support Construction and Equipment, shares his family’s various bouts with life-threatening illnesses and with the assistance they received through CFC charities. DLA Troop Support employees donated more than $136,000 to CFC in 2015.

Employees ‘show some love’ during CFC kickoff event

PHILADELPHIA — A survivor of domestic violence shared how a local charity helped her during DLA Troop Support’s Combined Federal Campaign kickoff event Oct. 13. CFC is the world’s largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign and DLA Troop Support employees donated more than $136,000 through CFC last year.

A South Carolina National Guard’s CH-47F Chinook helicopter assigned lands at the Whale Branch Early College High School and delivers water and food supplies to the community of Seabrook in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew Oct. 9. DLA Troop Support provided meals for 6,000 Marine recruits who were evacuated before the storm from Paris Island, South Carolina to Albany, Georgia. Hurricane Matthew peaked as a Category 4 hurricane in the Caribbean and hit the S.C. coast on Oct. 7.

Troop Support provides food, helipad materials for Hurricane Matthew relief

PHILADELPHIA — As the Navy hospital ship USNS Comfort deployed to support Hurricane Matthew relief efforts, it did so with a timely re-supply of food by DLA. “DLA Troop Support is uniquely positioned to respond to crises like Hurricane Matthew at a moment’s notice with world class logistics,” said Victor Harmon, DLA Troop Support Customer Operations.

Susquehanna commander visits Troop Support headquarters

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania — To discuss how to improve vendor compliance within each of the supply chains DLA Troop Support manages, DLA Distribution Susquehanna, Pa., commander Army Col. Brad Eungard visited the Primary-Level Field Activity’s headquarters in Philadelphia, Pa., in late September.
