As school year begins, Subsistence continues produce support for students

Philadelphia — As another school year starts, DLA Troop Support is set to provide fresh produce for students at approximately 12,000 schools throughout the U.S. In a partnership with the USDA, Subsistence provides produce to schools in 48 states.

Subsistence supports Peshmerga forces fighting ISIL

PHILADELPHIA — The Subsistence supply chain is providing food to the Peshmerga forces. The Secretary of Defense said in April that up to $415 million would be allotted to support the Peshmerga, one of the most effective fighting forces against ISIL.

A third grader in Oklahoma gave this letter to a school district nutrition director thanking her for the fresh fruits and vegetables provided during a summer school program. DLA Troop Support's Subsistence supply chain provides produce to schools in 48 states in partnership with the U.S Department of Agriculture.

Oklahoma third graders appreciate produce provided by Troop Support

PHILADELPHIA — Plums, apples, carrots and lemon water are just a few produce items third graders at Eugene Field Elementary School were thankful for during their summer school program.

After the Navy took ownership of the USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000), the supply department works to feed sailors aboard the destroyer May 20 in Bath, Maine. The Zumwalt’s inaugural dinner included lobster tail, crab and filet mignon.

Subsistence delivers lobster tails for inaugural dinner aboard USS Zumwalt

PHILADELPHIA — The inaugural dinner aboard the Navy’s newest guided-missile destroyer included 160 pounds of lobster tails that were delivered just in time, thanks to the DLA Troop Support Subsistence team.

Washington National Guard learns language of DLA food support

PHILADELPHIA — When the Washington Army National Guard decided it needed a better way to provide food to guardsmen, it reached out to the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Subsistence team.

Subsistence employees enjoy a variety of food during an outdoor Spring Fling event May 11 at the Naval Support Activity Philadelphia. Employees brought their favorite pot luck meals and ate hamburgers and hot dogs.

Spring Fling celebrates teamwork in Subsistence

PHILADELPHIA — The Subsistence sensing team hosted their first event of the year with a Spring Fling, offering employees an opportunity to “play hard because we work hard,” said event coordinator, Kelly Parker.

Subsistence employees ‘shout out’ to thank peers in newsletter

PHILADELPHIA — The Subsistence Culture Improvement Team began publishing a supply chain newsletter based on employee feedback from the 2014 Culture Survey.

DLA Troop Support Pacific conducts ‘symphony’ of food support for Key Resolve/Foal Eagle

PHILADELPHIA — To see the many moving pieces of equipment loading food onto a Navy aircraft carrier before a training exercise with the Republic of Korea was "like watching a symphony play," a logistician with DLA Troop Support Pacific said.

DLA Troop Support's Subsistence supply chain is helping the U.S. Army Special Operations Command add the nutrition element of the THOR3 - Tactical Human Optimization, Rapid Rehabilitation and Reconditioning - program to the menu of a Fort Bragg, North Carolina dining facility.
