‘Hooah!’ Headquarters celebrates Army’s 241st birthday

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — A standing-room audience at the McNamara Headquarters Complex displayed unabashed pride of service in celebrating the birth of the U.S. Army — still rolling along after 241 years.

Staff burns midnight oil to support “big” requirement

Okinawa, Japan — Just as the “dark of night” does not deter the U.S. Postal Service, Defense Logistics Agency personnel in Okinawa, Japan, recently showed that they will not let the lateness of the hour nor the size the property keep them from supporting the warfighter.

Defense Logistics Agency defines resilience, in part, as the ability to adopt and sustain healthy behaviors, deal effectively with pressure, remain optimistic and persistent, and anticipate change. DLA Aviation employee Marc Miller is a picture of resilience.

DLA Aviation Leader Commentary: Employee embodies picture of resilience

RICHMOND, Va. — Over the last year, Defense Logistics Agency has invested valuable time and resources into training employees in the four pillars of resiliency: mental, social, spiritual and physical. If you look around DLA Aviation, you can find examples of employees applying resiliency tools and overcoming obstacles; but, few portray a “picture of resilience” as well as Marc Miller.

New maintenance response vehicle helps disabled GOVs get back on the road

RICHMOND, Va. — Defense Logistics Agency Installation Support at Richmond’s Customer Support Division has developed and built a new General Services Administration maintenance response vehicle, known in short as a MRV, to respond to disabled government vehicles on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia.

After the Navy took ownership of the USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000), the supply department works to feed sailors aboard the destroyer May 20 in Bath, Maine. The Zumwalt’s inaugural dinner included lobster tail, crab and filet mignon.

Subsistence delivers lobster tails for inaugural dinner aboard USS Zumwalt

PHILADELPHIA — The inaugural dinner aboard the Navy’s newest guided-missile destroyer included 160 pounds of lobster tails that were delivered just in time, thanks to the DLA Troop Support Subsistence team.

Dix recognized Eartha Beaty, a 90-year-old Montford Point Marine, one of the first African Americans to serve in the United States Marine Corps, with a Certificate of Appreciation from the Montford Point Marine Association.

Clayton receives Defense Meritorious Service Medal for service to DLA

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — Prior to departing DLA Distribution following one year with the organization, Army Master Sgt. Michael J. Clayton received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal for his service from July 2015 to June 2016.
