Smooth operators: 460th CES maintains base upkeep

BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Buckley Air Force Base website — Maintenance is a constant need in life, especially when it comes to military bases. The streets we drive on, the signs we use for specific designations and the snow we need out of the way to be able to drive safely are just some of the responsibilities of the 460th Civil Engineering Squadron.

A new year brings a new look

Battle Creek, Michigan — As 2017 unfolds, officials at DLA Disposition Services continue to reach out to customers about the Network Optimization initiative to ensure field sites in the continental United States support customer requirements in the most efficient and cost effective manner possible.

‘Flag ladies’ continue Betsy Ross legacy as museum-worthy Philadelphia flag-makers

PHILADELPHIA — Embroiderers at DLA Troop Support continue the flag-making legacy of Betsy Ross and the many needle workers who preceded them. The "flag ladies" are featured in the Betsy Ross House’s newest exhibit “Historic Threads: 250 Years of Flag Making in Philadelphia.”

Langley one of four AFBs to test bio-based grease

Alaska's extreme cold tests soldiers, equipment

LACK RAPIDS TRAINING SITE, Alaska — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Department of Defense website — Newcomers to the interior of Alaska are often taken aback by the extreme cold and its effects on the body and equipment, according to Steve Decker, a training specialist at the Northern Warfare Training Center at Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

Army Staff Sgt. Jenna Vaughn, 1st Theater Sustainment Command’s Iraq Train and Equip Funding noncommissioned officer, inspects bulldozers received for ITEF July 12, 2016 in Southwest Asia. Armored bulldozers such as these were provided through DLA Troop Support’s Heavy Equipment Procurement Program and will allow Iraqi combat engineers to more effectively clear convoy routes of roadside bombs and other threats in the ongoing fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
