OCORT encourages teamwork, readiness

Fort Custer, Michigan — Civilian employees and military reservists working for the Defense Logistics Agency practiced the skills needed to deploy to forward areas during an Overseas Contingency Operations Response Training exercise from June 12 to 23.

Industrial Hardware director retires from Air Force

PHILADELPHIA — The director of Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support’s Industrial Hardware supply chain retired from the Air Force in a ceremony here June 22. Col. Glenn Chadwick served more than 27 years and will retire to Dallas.

DLA Troop Support hosted a groundbreaking ceremony June 26 to mark the start of construction on a new headquarters building on NSA Philadelphia. Pictured from left to right are: Richard Ellis, DLA Troop Support deputy commander, Tom Broadhurst, Daniel J. Keating Company vice president of operations; Army Brig. Gen. Groundbreaking marks start of Troop Support HQs construction

PHILADELPHIA — The new construction reflects the evolution of the DLA Troop Support, from depot operations to procuring more than $14 billion worth of materiel for the military and other customers in 2016, said Army Brig. Gen. Charles Hamilton, commander.

Stand up for those with PTSD, yourself included

At least half of all Americans will experience a trauma at some point in their lives, which can lead to PTSD. But treatment and counseling are widely available and often free of charge.

According to Lawrence, because the construction phase of the project is scheduled to be completed by January 2019, it allows Fort Riley to meet federal mandates for a 25 percent reduction from 2015 energy consumption levels — six years ahead of schedule.

RIchmond, Va. — Air Force Brig. Gen. Allan Day will relinquish command of the Defense Logistics Agency Aviation to Air Force Brig. Gen. Linda Hurry in a formal change of command ceremony at 10 a.m., June 28 at the Defense Supply Center Richmond’s Frank B. Lotts Conference Center.

Stewart receives Defense Meritorious Service Medal for service to DLA

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — Prior to departing DLA Distribution following almost one year with the organization, Army Master Sgt. Cynthia Stewart received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal for her service from July 2016 to May 2017.

Scrap handler hits the road for Camp Kinser

Okinawa, Japan — The scrap operations personnel at the DLA Disposition Services site at Okinawa, Japan, have some new help thanks to a late night road trip from Naha.

Work on the solar array began in 2012 when the Fort Campbell Directorate of Public Works partnered with the Huntsville Center and the Department of Energy to put together a renewable energy plan for the post.

Phase II increases Fort Campbell solar array wattage

July is the peak month for grill fires. Roughly half of the injuries involving grills are thermal burns. The National Fire Protection Association provides free downloadable grilling safety tips on their website at NFPA.org.
