Port Hueneme’s team supports annual Antarctic resupply mission

PORT HUENEME, California — Each year, the Preservation, Packaging, Packing and Marking team at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution San Diego, Calif., at Port Hueneme supports Operation Deep Freeze, the National Science Foundation’s Antarctic research mission at McMurdo Station, Antarctica, the logistics hub for NSF’s research mission.

A DLA Distribution Albany, Georgia forklift is buried under the wreckage of a rail head ramp. The entire base received major damage from the category five hurricane that touched down on Jan. 22.

DLA Distribution teams help site five states away rebuild from tornado

ALBANY, Georgia — After a severe tornado ravaged Albany, Georgia, teams from DLA Distribution arrived to provide services, supplies and expertise — helping the local DLA distribution center get up and running in less than two weeks.

Transcending the Spoken Word

Fort Belvoir, Virginia — An increasing number of the DLA population uses American Sign Language to communicate. Now, the agency is providing ways to educate employees in ASL.

The building, designed by Clark Nexsen, features extensive use of natural lighting. Other environmentally friendly features include energy efficient lighting and equipment with motion and occupancy sensors, rainwater harvesting, extensive use of recycled and local materials, green roofs, photovoltaic panels on the roof, maximized solar orientation, and increased levels of insulation.

History of the Federal Catalog System

Fort Belvoir, Virginia — DLA’s Logistics Information Services is responsible for the management and operation of the Federal Logistics Information System, incorporating data requirements for cataloging, supply and other logistics support for the Department of Defense, civil government agencies and participating NATO countries.
