Distribution leadership hosts Gen Darren McDew, USAF, USTRANSCOM Commander

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — Air Force Gen. Darren W. McDew, commander, U.S. Transportation Command and members of his team including Brig. Gen. Kyle Kremer and DLA-USTRANCOM staff visited DLA Distribution April 27 for an overview of DLA Distribution, and a tour of the DLA Distribution’s Expeditionary Operations and Foreign Military Sales areas.

Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Christopher Bailey, Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, has been awarded the Distribution Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the Quarter for second quarter, fiscal year 2016.

DLA to help rid Army of excess equipment

Army officials are depending on the Defense Logistics Agency’s disposal and distribution experts to help remove more than 1.2 million pieces of excess equipment from unit inventories in the next two to three years.

Children of McNamara Headquarters Complex employees took a break from school to “shadow” their parents during “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day” April 28. HQC Morale, Welfare and Recreation sponsored the event.

DLA Troop Support employee featured in new video

A new acquisition professionals video focusing on a DLA Troop Support employee was released on the organization’s YouTube and Facebook sites April 27.

Airman 1st Class Michael Schulz, 341st Logistics Readiness Squadron vehicle management flight mechanic, changes the oil of a government vehicle March 22, 2016, at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont. Schulz was one of two Airmen tasked with changing the oil of six vehicles which will be testing a new bio-based synthetic oil which could potentially help the Air Force’s initiative to use more sustainable materials and be environmentally conscious.

Urgency drives DLA Puget Sound team in maintaining ballistic-missile submarines

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The design of the Ohio-class submarine allows the vessel to operate 15 or more years between major overhauls. On average, the submarines spend 77 days at sea followed by only 35 days in-port for maintenance, creating urgency for on-shore personnel who must ensure the vessel is ready when called back to action.

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia — More than half the work completed at DLA Distribution Warner Robins, Ga., is in support of the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center. The organization's inventory includes parts and equipment for F-15, C-130, C-5 and C-17 aircraft, target acquisition systems, and most airborne electronic warfare systems.
