DLA director notes value of partnerships for clothing, textiles

Washington, D.C. — The director of the Defense Logistics Agency delivered a keynote presentation to about 150 government and industry partners, including leaders from DLA Troop Support, at the National Council of Textile Organizations 13th Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., April 12.

Soldier who survived gunshot is presented lifesaving helmet

Fort Belvoir, Virginia — DLA Troop Support supplies America's warfighters protective gear such as the Army Combat Helmet, one of which helped a soldier escape serious injury while searching for explosives in Afghanistan.

Agency employees help sailors ship out their hazardous wastes

Yokosuka, Japan — When used oils or fluids from Navy ships at Yokosuka, Japan, need to be disposed of, sailors turn to DLA Disposition Services for help.

DLA Troop Support Commander Army Brig. Gen. C&T contracting officer earns DLA recognition for small business awards

PHILADELPHIA — Awarding contracts to small businesses, resulting in best value support to customers, earned a DLA Troop Support contracting officer agency-wide recognition.

Agency director observes Army divestiture efforts

FORT BLISS, Texas — DLA Director Air Force Lt. Gen. Andy Busch observed the divestiture of Army property over to DLA Distribution and DLA Disposition Services during his April 5 visit to Fort Bliss, Texas, one of the first sites to start the process.

PHILADELPHIA — To see the many moving pieces of equipment loading food onto a Navy aircraft carrier before a training exercise with the Republic of Korea was "like watching a symphony play," a logistician with DLA Troop Support Pacific said.

Carter: DoD-MIT Partnership to Produce Fabrics That See, Hear, Sense

WASHINGTON — Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced that DoD is partnering with an 89-member consortium to establish a new manufacturing innovation institute focused on revolutionary fibers and textiles.

Troop Support employees help welcome home Vietnam vets

PHILADELPHIA — The welcome home was worth the 50-year wait, one veteran said following a Vietnam War Commemoration program March 29. DLA Troop Support employees helped cheer for more than 400 Vietnam vets as they paraded down a red carpet to the ceremony.

Battle Creek, Michigan — Fresh from his March 12-21 tour of the Pacific, Defense Logistics Agency Director Air Force Lt. Gen. Andy Busch traveled to Battle Creek, Michigan, to hear presentations on the DLA Disposition Services Annual Operating Plan and conduct a town hall session with DLA employees.

DLA Disposition Services helps police raise autism awareness

Tinton Falls, New Jersey — A New Jersey police department is using a Humvee acquired through DoD's LESO program, which DLA Distribution Services administers, to raise awareness of autism among first responders and others.

C&T employees visit supplier, improve understanding of industry

March 23, 2016 — Twelve Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support employees from the Clothing and Textiles supply chain toured a manufacturing plant that has been making uniforms for the U.S. military since World War II.

PHILADELPHIA — Despite South Korea’s ban on poultry items from the U.S., service members who eat at dining facilities across the peninsula continue to eat fresh chicken, thanks to DLA Troop Support Pacific.
