CCS deputy superintendent to speak at DSCC Black History Month observance
The deputy superintendent of Columbus City Schools will be the keynote speaker for the Defense Federal Community's Black History Month observance Feb. 19. John Stanford has served as deputy over Ohio's largest school district since 2012.
Feb. 14, 2020 - John Stanford, Ph.D., deputy superintendent of Columbus City Schools, will be the keynote speaker for the Defense Federal Community’s Black History Month observance Feb. 19 at the Defense Supply Center Columbus. Established in 1845, Columbus City Schools is Ohio’s largest school district and serves more than 51,000 students.

Land and Maritime associate named to Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame
Army Col. John Dreska, of the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime, will be inducted Nov. 7 into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame. The Class of 2019 was chosen from among 145 nominations across the state.
Oct. 1, 2019 - The Ohio Department of Veterans Services announced the 2019 Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame class in a statement Sept. 26. Army Col. John Dreska is among 20 inductees who will be inducted in November for their post-military service and accomplishments. In addition to his military service, Dreska works for the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime as the division chief for batteries, tires and engines.

Mission


Provide effective and efficient worldwide support to Warfighters and our other customers.

To best support the DLA mission, DLA Land and Maritime Public Affairs provides guidance to the commander, senior leadership, directorates, staffs and detachments, as well as all tenants of Defense Supply Center Columbus.The office develops and administers proactive command information, media relations and public outreach policies and programs that communicate DLA’s critical role as a combat support agency, value added to DOD, COCOMs, the military services and warfighters, and the American people using internal and external communication avenues.

Media Relations


Our Media Relations develops well thought out and responsive media operations.  The team adjusts quickly to both the scale of news media coverage and the organization's ability to communicate effectively and within the parameters provided.  The team works in concert with the News and Internal Information team to gain synergy of effort and information across all DLA audiences.

Goals and initiatives of the media relations team are to:

  • Increase positive media coverage of DLA, its mission, people, capabilities and services.
  • Increase dissemination of DLA’s compelling story as America's logistics combat support agency. Targeted, strategic engagement of the media provides DLA the opportunity to educate the American public about how the agency uses taxpayer resources as well as informing warfighters about DLA support. 

News and Web Operations


The News and Web Operations provides DLA related news and information to internal and external – non media- audiences. To build and maintain credibility, the team ensures all products are timely, accurate and consistent across audiences. In addition to operating DLA Land and Maritime's website, the team contributes to the agency flagship magazine, Loglines.
