Puget Sound’s Murphy awarded Inventory Management Civilian Supervisor/Leader of the Year

PUGET SOUND, Washington — Darren Murphy, inventory management specialist at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Puget Sound, Wash., has received the Global Distribution Excellence: Inventory Management Civilian Supervisor/Leader of the Year award for his stewardship through inventory accuracy.

Ivan Hall will be inducted into the DLA Hall of Fame at the McNamara Headquarters Complex July 14 for his contributions to the development and implementation of long-term contracts at DLA Land and Maritime. Hall retired in 2009 as the director of land supplier operations at Defense Supply Center Columbus, Ohio.

Former supply director of the ‘Mighty Land’ inducted into DLA Hall of Fame

Fort Belvoir, Virginia — As the driving force behind the development and implementation of the first corporate long-term contracts awarded by DLA for each of the three original equipment manufacturers, Ivan Hall will be inducted into the DLA Hall of Fame at the McNamara Headquarters Complex July 14.

Third DLA Cost Summit opens further discussions on savings, stewardship

Help Wanted: Stories from Distribution in West Africa

MONROVIA, Liberia — Jason Zeppuhar had been with DLA Distribution’s Expeditionary Team for two and half years and had previously deployed to assist with projects at Portsmouth, Va., and Ft. Knox. When he heard he was headed to Monrovia, Liberia, he was ready for a new challenge.

Distribution’s airborne riggers: Support on the ground and in the air

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — Among the boxes, air pallets, and trucks at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Susquehanna, Pa., there is a unique team tucked in the midst: DLA’s only parachute rigger unit. The team’s set of responsibilities is unlike any other; not only do they provide mission receiving support like other distribution centers, they also provide parachute pack and maintenance activities for units across all military services.

2015 Independence Day Message

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — On July 4, 1776, we claimed our independence and democracy was born. Every day thousands leave their homeland to come to the "land of the free and the home of the brave" so they can begin their American dream. Here at DLA Distribution, we come to work every day to support the warfighters and civilians who allow this to continue to be the "land of the free and the home of the brave."

DLA Troop Support Clothing and Textiles has been working with Army officials and other stakeholders for more than a year planning the rollout of the new operational camouflage pattern Army combat uniform. Soldiers are authorized to wear the uniform, which became available at select military clothing sales stores July 1.

Fort Belvoir, Virginia — The release of the Army combat uniform in the operational camouflage pattern July 1 is just the beginning of Defense Logistics Agency’s camouflage transition support to the Army, a DLA Troop Support leader said.

DLA Distribution celebrates Vietnam War 50th anniversary

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — To kick off its participation in a federal, 13-year long commemoration of those that served during the Vietnam War, DLA Distribution hosted veterans Sgt. (Ret.) Joseph Boslet and re-enactor Timothy Meade from the U.S. Army Heritage Center in Carlisle, Pa.
