Shooting Star award recognizes the individual accomplishments of Subsistence employees

PHILADELPHIA — The Shooting Star Award allows employees to nominate fellow team members for going above and beyond the call of duty to support the warfighter and be recognized during Subsistence’s quarterly town hall meeting.

PHILADELPHIA — Subsistence employees in Philadelphia spent the last year conducting market intelligence research, strategizing with vendors and building new catalogs to bring Army Culinary Outpost Kiosks to life.

DLA Troop Support seeks mentors and mentees to kick start leader development pilot

PHILADELPHIA — A new opportunity for mid-career civilian employees to gain one-on-one mentorship from senior-level employees across Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support is now available.

Five students from the University of Virginia’s Hacking for Defense course presented their recommendations from their final research project to Pentagon staff at the end of last year. The Hacking for Defense course provides university students an opportunity to work with DOD and the intelligence community to address the nation’s cybersecurity threats and security challenges.

Subsistence enlists the help of UVA students to provide feedback to improve information security operations for DOD food industry partners

PHILADELPHIA — Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Subsistence supply chain enlisted the help of five students from the University of Virginia’s Hacking for Defense course to communicate new Department of Defense information security requirements and resources to food industry partners.

Starr Seip, a nutritionist with DLA Troop Support’s Subsistence supply chain, teaches employee’s about carbohydrates during a diabetes education training, Jan. 15, 2018 in Philadelphia. Seip completed her doctoral dissertation on diabetes last December and a portion of it was published in the December 2018 Issue of the Journal of Food Science and Nutrition.

Subsistence dietician gets first scholarly journal article published

PHILADELPHIA — Pennsylvania National Guard soldier and current registered dietician in the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Subsistence supply chain recently become a published author.

Subsistence employee’s hard decision ultimately earns him 2018 Employee Leader of the Year recognition

PHILADELPHIA — Having to convince your wife and five kids to leave a familiar place to go to an unfamiliar place may seem like a daunting task. For one Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support employee this one decision led to one of his most gratifying experiences being selected as the 2018 Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Leader of the Year.

Troop Support event poses question: How and where can blockchain help?

PHILADELPHIA — The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support provided approximately 41,000 power poles, 88.1 million meals and 1,264 generators in partnership with the Federal Emergency Management Agency during the 2017 hurricane season. Responding to three major hurricanes was a record undertaking for DLA, and the mission was a success. But could the use of blockchain technology improve DLA’s support even more?

Troop Support brings cheer to workforce with 2018 holiday decorating contest

PHILADELPHIA — Employees of Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support supply chain and staff offices participated in a holiday decorating contest in Philadelphia Dec. 20. Employees created holiday “postage stamp” themed scenes depicting their piece of the agency’s Warfighter support mission, and entries were judged by Troop Support’s senior leadership team. Congratulations to 2018’s winners: 1st Place – Industrial Hardware; 2nd Place – Clothing and Textiles; 3rd Place – Command Support.

Commander launches innovation award ‘to meet dynamic, emerging warfighter requirements of the future’

PHILADELPHIA — On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress convened in Philadelphia to sign the Declaration of Independence. On Dec. 11, the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support commander and supply chain directors also gathered in Philadelphia to sign the inaugural Declaration of Innovation.
