U.S. Service members with the Joint Task Force 505 prepare boxes of aid and relief supplies to be loaded onto an aircraft at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, Nepal, May 14, in order for the supplies to be delivered to remote locations during Operation Sahayogi Haat. JTF 505 along with other multinational forces and humanitarian relief organizations are currently in Nepal providing aid after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the country, April 25 and a 7.3 earthquake on May 12. DLA director talks Better Buying Power with medical industry partners

PHILADELPHIA — The Defense Department’s Better Buying Power 3.0 initiative applies to every DLA supply chain and the vendors they work with, the Defense Logistics Agency’s director told medical industry and military service partners May 12 in Philadelphia.

Huegel visits Distribution prior to assuming new position at CDDOC

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — The incoming commander to U.S. Central Command’s Deployment Distribution Operations Center in Kuwait visited DLA Distribution May 12 to gain a better understanding of how she will be supporting DLA in her upcoming position.

DLA Aviation achieves Better Buying Power goal

RICHMOND, Virginia — Defense Logistics Agency Aviation’s Strategic Acquisition Programs Directorate awarded a performance-based logistics contract to Boeing that provides a comprehensive framework to support most Boeing aviation platforms. PBL contracts are part of the Better Buying Power 3.0 initiative.

DLA Distribution Corpus Christi focuses on first aid training

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Several months ago, DLA Distribution Corpus Christi, Texas, determined there was a need to enhance its Automated External Defibrillator, or AED, program. With the goal of training all willing employees to be able to respond to the vast majority of medical incidents, both at work or at home, the organization had its safety specialists officially certified to pass lifesaving skills onto others.

Audit readiness progress, goals outlined at all-hands meeting

FORT BELVOIR, Virginia — With just five months left until the Defense Logistics Agency’s goal to be fully audit ready by Sept. 30, audit readiness leaders held an all-hands meeting May 5 at the McNamara Headquarters Complex to discuss progress and challenges that lie ahead.
