Graduate school unveils new 3D metal printer

MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Maxwell Air Force Base website — The Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base has been utilizing additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing, to build prototypes with polymers for more than 30 years. On March 16, its Graduate School of Engineering and Management unveiled a new state-of-the-art metal additive manufacturing system that enables AFIT to digitally fabricate aerospace metal parts.

Army Brig. Gen. John S. Laskodi opened DLA Distribution’s first former commanding general’s forum, welcoming six former Defense Logistics Agency Distribution’s commanders.

Former Distribution Commanders Visit New Distribution Headquarters

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — As March winds blanketed central Pennsylvania with another layer of snow, seven former Defense Logistics Agency Distribution commanders participated in DLA Distribution’s first former commanding general’s forum at the new headquarters building. After providing the former commanders with an update on the current posture, the Distribution leadership team gleaned the perspectives of the former commanders on current and future operations.

Runners, walkers, warriors honor warfighters despite cold

Runners and walkers from agencies in Fort Belvoir’s McNamara Headquarters Complex braved wind chills in the 30s to participate in the “Honor the Warrior” 5K Walk-Run March 22.

Gimcheon staff uses airwaves to reach out to warfighters

Gimcheon, Korea — Defense Logistics Agency personnel in Korea use the Armed Forces Network to reach out to warfighters.

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Fort Riley website — The North Carolina National Guard’s 258th Engineer Utilities Detachment, Union III team, learned new capabilities and challenged themselves to be more creative as they supported operations and made Combined Joint Forces Land Component Command – Operation Inherent Resolve a better place to work.

Improvements on way for logistics data application

Fort Belvoir, Virginia — For federal and military logisticians seeking supply item information, the search will soon be easier with enhancements to the Defense Logistics Agency’s Federal Logistics Data application known as “FED LOG.”

Behind the scenes: An inside look at 5th LRS deployment plans

MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Minot Air Force Base website — Since December 2016, the 5th Logistics Readiness Squadron deployment distributions flight at Minot Air Force Base planned and executed all logistics operations in preparation for a U.S. Central Command deployment.

As part of the Defense Fuel Support Point San Pedro closing procedures, contractors remove the JP-5 cross connect that connects the north side of the terminal to the south side of the terminal. After 37 years, the DFSP San Pedro government owned, government operated fuel facility is closing tanks to achieve infrastructure savings and reduce costs for the Department of Defense.
