New Ground Vehicle Fueling Facility opens for business

ARNOLD AIR FORCE BASE, TENN. — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Arnold Air Force Base website — After months of preparation, the Arnold Air Force Base Ground Vehicle Fueling Facility is accepting customers who are fueling government vehicles with regular unleaded gasoline or diesel fuel, also known as GUR or DS2.

Maintaining the aircraft’s heartbeat

These components are essential in keeping the 9th Reconnaissance Wing’s aircraft up in the air and capable of completing their mission.

U.S. supports Romanian air force in first-ever KC-135 refueling mission

RAF MILDENHALL, England — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Royal Air Force Mildenhall website — The U.S. Air Force and Romanian air force made their first air refueling contact Feb. 28, 2017, over Romania. With the help of the U.S. Air Force 100th Air Refueling Wing and one of their KC-135 Stratotankers, the RoAF became certified to refuel from all U.S. KC-135s, strengthening their partnerships and regional stability.

The Army Jungle Combat Boot, now under development, features a low-height heel to prevent snags on things like vines in a jungle environment; additional drainage holes to let water out if it becomes completely soaked, speed laces so that soldiers can don and doff the boots more quickly, a redesigned upper to make the boots less tight when they are new, an insert that helps improve water drainage, a lining that helps the boot breathe better and dry faster; a ballistic fabric-like layer under a soldier's foot to help prevent punctures, and a foam layer between the rubber sole and the upper to provide greater shock absorbing capability. New Army Jungle Wear Gives ‘Trench Foot’ the Boot

WASHINGTON — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Department of Defense website — Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley directed the Army to come up with a plan to outfit two full brigade combat teams in Hawaii, part of the 25th Infantry Division there, with a specialized jungle boot -- and Program Executive Officer Soldier, headquartered at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, had to get a plan together to make it happen.

Forging the future, maintainers receive new equipment

The bombers consistently need new parts to continue their mission, parts that haven’t been manufactured in decades. This is where the 28th Maintenance Squadron Fabrication Flight comes into play.

Aircrew flight equipment: life support for aviators
