Gordon "Buzz" Hackett

Director, Installation Management

Mr. Gordon “Buzz” Hackett became the Director, DLA Installation Management in August 2018. DLA Installation Management (DM) provides enterprise-wide policy, program oversight, and worldwide operational support in Environmental Management, Safety and Occupational Health, Facilities and Equipment, Family and Morale, Welfare, and Recreation, and Security and Emergency Services for DLA activities that support six DLA Major Subordinate Commands, three DLA Regional Commands and eleven major DLA Installations worldwide.

Prior to August 2018, Mr. Hackett served as the Deputy Commander of DLA Europe & Africa headquartered in Kaiserslautern, Germany. He shared in the overall management, direction and synchronization of DLA’s global solutions in support of U.S. European Command, U.S. Africa Command and their respective military service components. From June 2012 to May 2015, he served as the Deputy Division Chief of the DLA Joint Logistics Operations Center.

Mr. Hackett served at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) from December 2007 to June 2012. While at FEMA, he served as Director of the Logistics Operations Division and later as Director of the Logistics Plans and Exercises Division. Prior to joining FEMA, Mr. Hackett served at HQ, DLA from February 2005 to December 2007 as the Customer Account Manager (Marine Corps Service Team- Marine Operating Forces) and then as the Customer Account Manager (Army Service Team- Industrial). He also served as DLA’s liaison officer to FEMA headquarters in support of Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma.

Mr. Hackett retired from the U.S. Army in January 2005 as a lieutenant colonel after completing a 20-year career during which he served as a logistics officer at the strategic, operational, and tactical levels. Some of his active duty military experiences included three tours to the Republic of South Korea, Aide-de-Camp to the Director, Defense Commissary Agency, Special Assistant, and later Assistant Executive Officer to the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Army G-4. His last military assignment was with DLA as the Executive Officer to the Director of Customer Operations and Readiness, J-4.

Mr. Hackett holds a Bachelor of Science degree in social work from Longwood College, a Master of Science degree in human resources management from Chapman University, a Master of Business Administration from Averett University, and a Master of Science degree in national resource strategy from the National Defense University's Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He is a graduate of Penn State University’s Executive Program, earning a certificate in Supply Chain Management, attended the Federal Executive Institute’s Leadership for a Democratic Society Program, and Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, Senior Executive Fellows Program.

Mr. Hackett is a certified professional coach and serves as a member of DLA’s Coaching Cadre. His military education includes the Quartermaster Officer Basic and Advanced Courses; Logistics Executive Development Course, Joint Forces Staff College, and the U.S. Army Command & General Staff College. Mr. Hackett’s personal awards include the DLA Meritorious Civilian Service Award, DLA Superior Civilian Service Award, DLA Humanitarian Effort Award, and the Secretary of Defense Award for Excellence for his efforts in support of Hurricane Sandy. He is the recipient of The U.S. Army Association of Quartermasters’ Distinguished Order of Saint Martin.
