DLA Land and Maritime Commander visits Troop Support
Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Commander Navy Rear Adm. John Palmer signs his name on a presidential flag Oct 4 during a visit to DLA Troop Support. As part of his orientation tour, Palmer stopped by the flag room to learn how employees make military unit flags. The presidential and vice presidential flags are made at Troop Support. As part of tradition, when distinguished visitors stop by the flag room to learn the history, they are extended an opportunity to sign their name.

DSCC associate saves life on commute home
Defense Logistics Agency Police Officer Daniel McCombs has dedicated his life to service.  He served 11 years in the Army National Guard as a Military Police Officer. After leaving the Army, he worked physical security for Defense Information Systems Agency for a number of years at the Defense Supply Center Columbus before becoming a DLA police officer to further his federal service and continue to serve in the interest of others.
Oct. 8, 2018 - We’ve all heard the saying, “It’s all about being in the right place at the right time,” but these words couldn’t be truer for Daniel McCombs. It was dark outside and he was focused on ensuring the safety of the witnesses. This is when he noticed the car on flames and heard someone was still inside, he immediately went into response mode – trying to figure out how to save the driver.

Oct. 5, 2018 - “Mentoris Times” features an interview with Dr. Robert Boggs. Dr. Boggs is the director of People and Culture and has over 35 years of experience in the Federal Government and 41 years of combined Military Service.

National Preparedness activities conclude on DSCC
Defense Supply Center Columbus’ Installation Emergency Manager Jayce Ashwill speaks with associates about National Preparedness Month Sept. 13 in the Building 20 cafeteria.  The informational booth was part of a series of informational booths held around the installation in September to raise awareness about being prepared for emergencies. The month long recognition focusing on disaster preparedness reminds individuals to be ready for emergencies at home and away. Ready.gov has additional resources and tips available to assist in planning needs.
Oct. 5, 2018 - The Defense Supply Center Columbus completed a number of activities during National Preparedness Month. DSCC’s goal was to provide information to installation employees to make them better prepared for emergencies at home, at work and in the community.

The Defense Federal Community celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month
Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Equal Employment Office Director Charles Palmer presents Maria B. Castillo, former EEO Hispanic Employment Program chair with a token of appreciation during a Sept. 22 offsite celebration recognizing her 36 years of federal service and contributions to the Hispanic community.
Oct. 4, 2018 - The Defense Supply Center Columbus’ Equal Employment Opportunity Hispanic Employment Program joined in the celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15. This month was designated by Congress to celebrate the rich heritage and cultural diversity that Hispanic Americans have contributed to the United States of America. This year’s theme was ‘Resilient and Ready.’
