DLA Distribution commander discusses warfighter support with Troop Support leaders

PHILADELPHIA — The DLA Distribution commander touted how his team works with DLA Troop Support to provide the best warfighter support at the best value for the Department of Defense during a visit to Philadelphia April 7.

Winter warriors wow, win awards

More than a dozen employees of the Defense Logistics Agency received trophies and recognition from DLA’s senior military leaders for meeting their fitness goals this past winter, in an April 12 ceremony at the McNamara Headquarters Complex, Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

Less excess materiel, reduced inventory costs and decreased lead times are among the benefits of two new Defense Logistics Agency drives to improve support to Marine Corps customers at maintenance depots and supply management units.

Land and Maritime, Distribution leadership gather to discuss future efficiencies

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — On Apr. 5, DLA Land and Maritime senior leadership met with DLA Distribution commander Army Brig. Gen. John Laskodi and key staff members to discuss the duo’s partnership and ways to create efficiencies benefitting the DLA enterprise.

DLA offers full-time, trained personnel to help victims of sexual assault, along with other resources.

Susquehanna’s first female senior enlisted leader departs as first Marine comes onboard

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — The April 5 Change of Responsibility ceremony between Army 1st Sgt. Janine Burr and Marine Master Sgt. Bryan Alberts was historic for two reasons: the DLA Distribution Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, community was bidding farewell to the organization’s first female senior enlisted advisor as it welcomed its first Marine to serve the position.

DLA Distribution’s 25th distribution center, the Expeditionary Team is currently deployed in support of Operation Pacific Reach. The team works to set up one of the deployable warehouses, complete with Distribution Standard System.

Distribution’s Expeditionary Team supports Operation Pacific Reach

POHANG, South Korea — DLA Distribution’s 25th distribution center, the Expeditionary Team is currently deployed in support of Operation Pacific Reach, which is an exercise conducted every other year. This year’s exercise is being held from April 10 through April 21 at Dogu Beach in Pohang, South Korea. The Expeditionary Team consists of 19 total personnel, 17 civilians and two military.

Defense Logistics Agency Information Operations provides scanning services for all types and sizes of documents, and converts paper archives into an easily retrievable digital format.

DLA Distribution commanding general visits DLA Distribution San Joaquin, California

TRACY, California — Defense Logistics Agency Distribution commanding general Army Brig. Gen. John Laskodi visited DLA’s western Strategic Distribution Platform to conduct a town hall and tour the distribution center’s facilities.

DLA Distribution implemented the DoD Performance Management and Appraisal Program, or DPMAP, on April 1.

DLA division uses parachutes, partnership to support humanitarian aid

Fort Belvoir, Virginia — DLA expanded its humanitarian efforts by teaming with agencies such as NORTHCOM and the USAID to help non-government organizations provide aid to those in need. DLA’s Whole of Government Division recently helped supply the World Food Programme by providing containers and parachutes in order to deliver food and supplies to Syrian refugees.

DLA Distribution directors and commanders kicked off a five-day seminar aimed at further developing the organization’s Campaign Plan.

Distribution commanders and directors summit focuses on developing Campaign Plan, future strategy

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — From March 20-24, commanders and directors from DLA Distribution’s 26 global distribution centers came together to discuss how the organization will set a plan to carry itself into the future as a strategic national security asset, available whenever called upon by the Department of Defense.

Army Sgt. Leon H. Bell in 1919, after returning from World War I, at the home of his half-sister Lassie and brother-in-law, F.E. Carroll, Park Street, Beaumont, Texas. The U.S. Army continued to issue this uniform into the early days of World War II. DLA Troop Support now supplies all uniforms to U.S. military service members.
