Safety and Occupational Health Office acts as the principle advisor and assistant to the Commander on developing and managing programs to assure safe working conditions, environmental quality, and to promote the health of employees, and others on DLA managed facilities.
The Safety and Occupational Health Office acts as the principal advisor and assistant to the Site Director and Commander on developing and managing programs to assure safe working conditions, environmental quality, and to promote the health of employees and others on DLA-managed facilities.
DLA serves as a model for leadership, values, and commitment to mission. Applying the same commitment to preventing accidents and protecting resources through implementation of effective safety programs sets the stage for optimal success. Regardless of grade or rank, safety is everyone’s business. All employees play a key role in this process by identifying hazards and mitigating risks as part of everyday activities. As a Voluntary Protection Program Star site, we believe that an uncompromising commitment to safety and compliance is the individual responsibility of each and every employee within the DLA Columbus organizational family. Safety has a direct correlation to organizational and individual readiness, and we must continue the challenge to eliminate mishaps by applying risk management strategies towards achieving an annual goal of significant reductions in all occupational incidents. We will continue to work as partners with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration as we focus on the four major areas of VPP: Management Leadership and Employee Involvement, Work Site Analysis, Hazard Prevention and Control, Safety and Health Training.
